Think post-DH fic, circa the Epilogue, or maybe a few years earlier.

Think high-stakes adventure genfic with plenty of excitement and danger, lashings of humor and a sprinkle of romance (with a certain dreamy-eyed naturalist, perhaps). And let's not forget the cameo appearance by the Giant Squid.

And it's called...

DENNIS CREEVEY AND THE RESURRECTION STONE.

Seriously, wouldn't that be awesome? I order all of you to go out and write it right now. Round-robin style if necessary.
So there I was getting the baby ready for bed tonight, not thinking about anything in particular, tra la la, when all of a sudden I was mugged by two humongous HP plot bunnies. Did you think I'd pretty much forgotten about HP for the time being and was just sitting here waiting for Book 7? I bet you did. I know I did.

The premise of the first and lesser bunny )

However, the second one really freaked me out when I thought of it, and the more I thought about it from various angles the more fearfully plausible it became, until I began to think that if JKR doesn't do something along these lines in Book 7 I won't just be disappointed, I'll actually be surprised. I ran it past [livejournal.com profile] lizbee and [livejournal.com profile] cesario and they agreed that it was definitely worth posting for public consumption, so here it is, the plot bunny that ate the fandom )

So there you have it. Fire away.

Oy.

You guys, you've got to know you've spent too much time in HP fandom at large when I suggest Snape/Luna and you worry I'm angling for a remake of Lolita. :)

Let me try that again. Snape and Luna, interacting in some positive fashion involving mutual understanding and respect. [livejournal.com profile] peacockharpy's just-written ficlet is a lovely example.

But if the story's set post-Hogwarts, bonus points for UST. Because actual Snape/Luna is the real challenge, I think.

Better now?

*wanders off shaking head ruefully*
It needs a home, and I refuse to give it one. But the idea refuses to leave me alone, and I admit to some curiosity as to whether anyone can pull it off successfully. Drabbles welcomed, no smut please, time period of your choosing, but I'd be interested in seeing a kind of HP fic I can't seem to find anywhere on the net --

Snape/Luna.

P.S. Please don't hurt me.
I am not actually upset about this at all, seeing as Richard E. Grant is a fine actor and hey, more Who is always a good thing, but...

I really liked Rowan Atkinson's Ninth Doctor, even if the only thing he ever appeared in was a spoof. And I have this little snippet of a story sitting on my hard drive, which I actually thought I might get around to finishing someday...

But now I shall post it here, as a wistful goodbye to my dream that AtkinsonDoc might some day become canonical.

Jeremiad )

And that's all she wrote, alas. I had a premise and some notes for an outline, but that's as far as it got...

P.S. If you were wondering if the girl was Emma, the answer is yes. This was supposed to be her backstory.
P.P.S. I am also going to link to this, for no good reason whatsoever. Woo!
P.P.P.S. You know, if Snape washed his hair, I think this is how it might look.
P.P.P.P.S. Yes, I'll shut up now.
Even though I am still trying to sort out my feelings about OotP, I am finding it very fic-inspirational. But in a different way from the previous books. The earlier ones made me want to write romance. This book makes me want to write genfic.

Next up: a conversation between Snape and Lupin.
Something just occurred to me today as I was driving the kids to the park.

Where are the Moody/McGonagall fics? I've never seen one. And now I'm intrigued by the possibility. They do seem to be roughly the same age... and some have speculated they might have been at Hogwarts together...

Now that I've thought of it, it seems so sensible that I don't know why it didn't occur to me before.
From tonight's chat:

synaesthete7: I realized this morning that I am in imminent need of professional help. I was suddenly possessed by the urge to write an angsty romance fic (very much tongue-in-cheek, I hasten to add!) of "Blue's Clues".

Don't tell me you really want to know more... )

Yeah, I can't believe it either.
"Considering the recent advances in optometry and laser eye surgery, it's a mystery to me why anyone would still be wearing bifocal glasses. Especially when that person is an agent."

Yes, that's right, it's a Johnson Johnson fic... narrated by Sydney Bristow.

I'll never write it, of course. Even though it would be a perfect crossover.

What I am writing, however, is a bit more practical. Vaughn fic. About the Alice thing. Just because.
I had a horrible, evil plot bunny attack me in the shower this morning. And it wasn't an HP plot bunny, or even an Alias plot bunny. It was a Labyrinth plot bunny, drat the thing, and it was about Toby of all people, and there is no way I am going to write it so I kicked it out, squealing, onto the bathroom floor.

I don't have time for this nonsense.
