Go. Here. Now.

I was so afraid to read it at first. But now I'm glad I did.

PLEASE NOTE: The above-mentioned link is promotional material intended for the consumption of the general public. It contains only minor spoilers, such as will not diminish the experience of reading the book. Really. Honest. So go ahead and click.

I'm just waiting for [livejournal.com profile] startredder to tell me that she predicted the whole thing...heck, I predicted quite a bit of it.

Admittedly, if that's what the book's about, it sounds too much like my life. And that isn't too enjoyable. Blargle.

Well, I was just saying to [livejournal.com profile] firelocks that if the new DADA teacher with her poisoned-honey personality strikes any sparks with Snape, that would be the most awful fanfic cliche... and yet if JKR does it*, I will not complain. Because she's not fanfic, she's the Real Thing, baby.
--
Not that she will do that, of course. We already know what she thinks of Snape romance. Or says she thinks, anyway.

Before I read it, can somebody explain what it is? Is it the summary to be published on the back cover and/or inside cover flaps? (In other words, is it a spoiler that JKR and her publishers *intend* us to have before reading it?)

I'm assuming so, given the comments above, but want to make sure.

Yes, it is. It hints at things but doesn't spoil. Promotional stuff.

I was terrified to read it but saw your comment that it was a book-jacket kind of thing... cool. :)

I just CANNOT WAIT for this to come out. Have ordered baby sling so as to have hands available to hold this BEHEMOTH of a book. *bounces off walls*

LOL. I literally read GoF while nursing Nicholas -- latched him on, picked up the book and read for an hour (he was a slow eater), put him down for a two-hour nap and kept reading, picked him up at the end of nap and fed him for another hour while I finished the book. Fortunately Simon is old enough that I won't have to break my wrist doing that again (not that I could with a book that heavy, anyway)! I'll just have to lie on the floor avidly reading while the kids crawl all over me, instead. :)

::runs around doing mad dance, much to bemusement of fellow library users::

A Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher with a personality like poisoned honey...

Feminine motif, much? And a poison reference, too. Must be a Snape connection.

(Liz Barr, building mountains out of molehills since 1982.)

In all seriousness, I'm desperately hoping that it's Arabella Figg, and that she spends a year making Harry's life hell. Because it's not only a beautiful inversion of the usual Arabella-as-DADA-teacher-cliche, but it will save me the trouble of rewriting GML.

::pushes unedited chapters under bed::

Want to take bets on how long before "Poisoned Honey" is used as a fic title?

"Poisoned Honey" reminds me of I CLAVDIVS; particularly of Livia.

Which gives me the mental image of Livia/Sian Phillips as the new DADA prof. That would work nicely with an Arabella Figg plotline...

(Note to self: Spending an entire two days watching I CLAVDIVS might be considered detrimental to one's mental health...)

I'm also looking for the Perkins connection -- Arthur Weasley borrowed a tent from "Perkins at the office" and it smells like Mrs. Figg's house. Hmmmmm.

Am rambling. Must go feed baby.

Poisoned Figgs, eh?

::dies a happy Classics geek death::

Sian Phillips has always provided my mental image of Arabella.

Nah. Who needs sanity when you can dress up in bedsheets and re-enact the Dance of Rosy-Fingered Dawn?

Not that I've ever done that.

Perkins is Figg's maiden name; the cabbage smell comes from their mother's appalling cooking lessons.

Interesting. R/Hr fans must be excited about the Quidditch - at least they got one prediction right. No mention of Ginny, though.

I can't wait for 6/21, when Lara gets on the MUCK. "Did you read it yet?" "Not yet." (whap) "Read it!" (5 second pause) "Done yet?"

Must... resist... preorder... frenzy...

Until I've got a summer job, at least.

My analytical side is quietly bouncing up and down, trying not to scream, "the door! the symbolism! open the door, Harry, that's what doors are for!"

Wild speculation

I'm curious about the "poisoned honey" reference. Didn't someone say Dumbledore = bee? So will this Defence teacher turn out to be a child/relative of his? Or am I reading too much into it? ;D
