...because [livejournal.com profile] seviet's drawings are gorgeous and I love them. But oh my word, this is the most amazing picture of Harry and Ginny I've ever seen. Not only because it's beautifully done in its own right, but because it comes so close to my idea of how they might, or should, look post-canon. [livejournal.com profile] friede, how do you do that?

I did this for [livejournal.com profile] lizbee, because I wuvs her. Plus, Girl Most Likely has become the Fic That Ate My Brain, so this is my feeble attempt at getting some of the madness out of my system.

Grownup!Harry with Lilith Borgin, from GML Act Three )

This also marks the first time I have drawn Harry Potter, ever. What's next? Writing a story about the guy?

(Sheeyeah, right.)
This took me forever, but I'm pretty pleased with it now. Hopefully as I get more adept at using Photoshop Elements and my new graphics tablet, future drawings will be a little less time-consuming. But anyway, here it is...

"In The Forest" (D&Lverse illustration, Snape/Maud)
  • description and preview
  • full size

Or go here if deviantART is too slow or otherwise misbehaving.

And now I have to run like crazy, because I'm still in my jammies and we have to leave the house by 8 a.m....

My first drawing with my new Wacom Graphire 2 tablet -- a bit rough, as I'm just learning all the things it's possible to do with Photoshop Elements, but I'm still quite pleased with it. The thumbnail and description's here:

    Albion Snape asleep

Or you can go straight to the full size version.
    Courtesy of Em:

A beautiful portrait of Maud, taken from a larger pic of Maud and Snape together which I also like very much (especially the trippy look on Snape's face -- I mean, clearly that Hair Thing has become a serious addiction).

Then there's my secondary OC's, Jennet Peachtree and the irrepressible Imogen Crump.

And finally, appropriately enough considering my previous post, it's the Snapelets. I never thought of giving Margot this particular hairstyle, but now that I've seen it... it's awfully tempting.

Check out more by the same artist -- if you're into Tonks/Remus, for instance, it's a positive feast.

And just when I thought my week couldn't get any better, I got an e-mail alerting me to a new gallery of D&L illustrations by [livejournal.com profile] sannalim:

  • Trilogy cover
  • The Potions Master's Apprentice cover
  • Personal Risks cover
  • If We Survive cover

aaand it's the Snapelets all over again! Snape Family Portrait

Seriously, I am overwhelmed. Thank you both very, very much. Wow!

Well, I got inspired by seeing other people's art on the deviantART site, and decided to start a little gallery of my own. So here it is:

    My Gallery

It's a lot easier to update stuff there than send it in to Artistic Alley or SQ, I must say. (No offense to anyone involved in AA or SQ, I hope, but it is.)

    Art Plugs!

This seems to have been a day for finding wonderful pieces of online art.

First, this amusing entry by [livejournal.com profile] ursulav, presenting her new digital illustration Mortimer was a very bad egg. Come on, what could be better than a goth version of Humpty Dumpty?

Then I noticed that somebody else had linked to a rather lovely drawing of the Trio, movie-style (by someone whose art I had never seen before, possibly because she seems to favour H/Hr -- but, you know, even those are pretty enough I almost didn't mind looking at them).

And finally, I just got an e-mail from Teri, telling me that a friend of a friend had done a piece of AU fan art for D&L. Well, as you can imagine, I was blown away by that as well... so here it is, "Meeting Maud". I love Maud's robes, and her hair, and the length of her nose, though how she persuaded Snape to go to a formal ball, I cannot imagine. :)

There are so many good artists out there! And they all know how to use Photoshop a great deal better than I do! Of course, I suspect they also have graphic tablets, which is an investment I've yet to make...

Because I.S. Jin did me a gorgeous illustration in honour of the recent revision I did to The Potions Master's Apprentice, and I just had to colour and iconify it. Thanks, ISJ!

And in response to a couple of appalled comments on my previous post, I never suggested Rowan Atkinson should play Snape. I just said that in this particular pic, Rowan Atkinson's hair looked like I think Snape's would if he took proper care of it. Not the same thing. :)

On the other hand, look at the sketch of Snape drawn by J.K. Rowling herself, and tell me that her version doesn't look a lot more like Atkinson than he does like Alan Rickman...?!
I have been using my new Margot Snape icon for a couple of days now, forgetting to mention that the sketch is the work of the inimitable [livejournal.com profile] lizbee. Thanks, Liz!
And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] meril for telling me about the wonders of Oekaki. I just know I'm going to be playing with this thing every chance I get. This pic's pretty rough because I was just learning to use the tools, but here it is anyway...

    My first Oekaki drawing.

This is some brilliant, beautiful Harry Potter art. I am always thrilled when I find a new HP artist who is a) exceptionally good at natural, lifelike poses and b) not anime-style, and Marta hits the mark on both points. Go. See. Review.

Why, oh why, does nobody seem to have a print of Vermeer's gorgeous painting The Geographer for sale? For years I've coveted a matched set of Geographer and Astronomer prints, but all I can ever find is The Astronomer. Last night I checked a whole bunch of poster and print shops on the web -- no help at all.

    Feh.
