The misguided individual who posted The Potions Master's Apprentice as their own story has been banned from FF.net. Took them a few days to get around to dealing with the abuse reports, but they came through...
And on a completely unrelated note, the TAR4 premiere aired last night. I [heart] The Amazing Race -- it's the only "reality" show worth watching, IMO. The race-around-the-world format keeps things fresh and lively, and thanks to the myriad things that can go wrong when travelling, there are always interesting new twists. If you like to watch people scheming, snarking, and whining at each other, well, there's some of that too -- the rigors of the race and the demands of the various tasks are guaranteed to bring out the best and the worst in everyone. And then there's all that gorgeous scenery...
If you've never seen the show, give it a try. Thursday nights on CBS. (Or CTV, if you're in Canada.)
My only serious gripe from last night: the way the producers insist on labelling Millie and Chuck as "Dating 12 Years/Virgins" every time they appear on screen. Like they're aliens from another planet for not having slept together, and their entire character is defined by their not having sex. Personally I think the "Dating 12 Years" is by far the weirder part of the equation; but then Chuck already said he has a problem with commitment. Wow, really? I never would have guessed.
Anyway, I am gratified to see that (at least so far) all the pre-hating of this team based on the assumption that they would be self-righteous prigs has been unjustified; Millie in particular seems to be a friendly and generous person with lots of energy and humour, rather like Jill was last year.
In any case, I've decided I need to make a Phil (the host) icon. Phil and his eyebrow are too cool.

Date: 2003-05-30 05:24 pm (UTC)It's probably evidence that I am shockingly arrogant, but I actually found the whole thing more funny than upsetting. For one thing, the story was so poorly formatted that nobody in their right mind would want to read it. And by the time I got there, three out of four reviews (and later, seven out of eight) consisted of "I know who the author of this story is, and it's not you. For shame!" So I figured I needn't worry too much about this "angelina" person getting any credit...
