synaesthete7: AAAA!!!
Avarill: hello there!
synaesthete7: I just want to say, for the record, that I totally believe in Irina's innocence.
synaesthete7: But poor woobie Jack!!!
Avarill: I'm not watching!
synaesthete7: You're not watching what?
Avarill: [covers ears with hands] la la la la la
Avarill: I know what happens
Avarill: but my bro is taping it
Avarill: I couldn't handle the trauma
synaesthete7: YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT!!! It's a *great* episode.
Avarill: nope!
synaesthete7: *jaw drops*
synaesthete7: But it's got all sorts of cool Jack stuff in it!!!
Avarill: I'm not going to watch Jack get led down the primrose path
synaesthete7: We don't know that he is!
synaesthete7: He and Irina could have talked this out together beforehand.
Avarill: yeah, and he's an idiot!
Avarill: I refuse to watch him be an idiot!
synaesthete7: We don't know he's an idiot.
Avarill: well, when I know he's not an idiot, then I'll watch lol
synaesthete7: My pet theory is that he and Irina worked out this as a possible scenario if things didn't go according to the regular plan. Jack WOULD be an idiot if he assumed Sloane would just stick to the plan, I think.
Avarill: well I certainly hope that Jack isn't written like an idiot in the upcoming episodes
synaesthete7: He isn't written like an idiot in this one! Sheesh.
Avarill: eh, Irina hoodwinks him
synaesthete7: I think Jack KNOWS Irina's on the up-and-up. I think he has good reason to believe in her. But he might very well pretend that he doesn't, for the sake of keeping her cover. So I wouldn't be surprised if we see him drinking and acting all angsty in upcoming eps. But I firmly believe in the end it will come out that he knew all along.
Avarill: well that would be nice
Avarill: but I ain't buying it
synaesthete7: Pfft! *throws up hands*
Avarill: lol
Avarill: seriously, I don't watch much TV, and when I get invested in a show, I no longer keep watching after they cross the annoyance threshold
synaesthete7: I think the clue is in what Jack said -- that he would KNOW if she were deceiving him again. And I think he does know.
Avarill: a lot of people are saying that
Avarill: which would be just peachy
synaesthete7: Maybe I'm giving JJ too much credit for cleverness, but I'm not going to pass judgment on this one until I see how it plays out. He hasn't led me wrong so far, so I don't know why he would start doing stupid character-defamatory things now. The worst treatment the show's given Jack is to reduce him to a bit player in some overly Sydneycentric episodes. That hasn't given me reason to think that JJ's suddenly going to turn around and portray Jack as a dumb person who gets the wool pulled over his eyes by his evil conniving ex-wife.
Avarill: well I really hope you're right
Avarill: because as you said, if things are as they seem then there's nothing we get out of this other than character defamation of Jack
synaesthete7: Exactly. And I can't see that. I think JJ likes Jack. A lot.
synaesthete7: He's worked so hard on giving us sympathy and respect for this character, when at first he seemed so unsympathetic.
synaesthete7: Why would he turn around now and portray him as a fool?
Avarill: to torture me LOL
synaesthete7: But hey. Maybe I'm naive, maybe I'm too much of an optimist, and maybe JJ's not the writer I give him credit for being. Still, every time I have got all hot and bothered and worried about a plot development or characterization on this show, he has exceeded my expectations.
synaesthete7: So, I'm inclined to wait and see how this one plays out.
Avarill: I haven't been altogether happy with him this season, though, so I'm quite pessimistic
synaesthete7: But if you think from all this that I am slightly biased on Irina's behalf, you would be right about that. I think it would be total character defamation for JJ to have her be evil and truly allied with Sloane at this point.
synaesthete7: And that would make me very very mad.
synaesthete7: I SO totally called what Vaughn was doing with all that suspicious-looking stuff. I think that was a clue -- a theme of the episode -- that even things that look completely incriminating may not be at all that way, and that sometimes you have to trust people in the face of what looks like damning evidence, because that's what love is about.
synaesthete7: I belieeeeeeeeeve in the lurve of the SpyParents! *frolics and scatters daisies*
Avarill: ROFL
synaesthete7: Erm, I think I just undermined my credibility there.
Avarill: possibly...
