Your mileage may vary on the cuteness, actually, but he is (as I suspected) much improved from the squashed purple look he had at birth. So:

One of these days I'll try to catch him with his eyes open. They're brown, like his father's -- a novelty since his older two brothers' eyes are grey-blue with yellow rings around the pupil (like mine) and ice blue (like his grandfathers' on both sides).

Date: 2005-09-20 12:58 am (UTC)Is it just the lack of scale to compare, RJ, or is he as long as skinny as it seems in the first picture?

Date: 2005-09-20 01:21 am (UTC)It's probably just the angle, but he's got a terrifyingly mature expression in the second photo, a bit like Hamlet wishing that his too too solid flesh would melt.

Date: 2005-09-20 02:31 am (UTC)Newborn jaundice aside, his hair seems very dark compared with the other boys', but astonishingly beautiful.
Incidentally, he looks like a Churchill.

So, as a nurse who works with babies all day every day, I feel like I'm entitled to a somewhat professional opinion.
He is absolutely beautiful.

Date: 2005-09-20 05:34 pm (UTC)Of course, Nicholas and Simon could turn up with somewhat darker hair in the end, too, if their hair does that blond-to-brownish thing as they grow up.

Date: 2005-09-20 02:13 pm (UTC)and sleeping is a very good thing.
Now that my baby is 11, I find myself squeeing over babies--not that I want another of my own, but grandbabies might be nice.
In 15 years or so.
Love all the hair. Both mine were little cueballs.
