The rumours of my delinquency when it came to giving anyone on my friendlist anything from their Christmas wish list in time for Christmas are, unfortunately, true. However, I do recall that a considerable number of you mentioned that you would like icons, and that is something that even in my current state of health*, I can actually do with some degree of enjoyment and success.

So, I am taking icon requests. If you'd like one, please leave a comment, and tell me:

a) what kind of icon you'd like (i.e. a particular fandom, character, pairing, subject, etc.) .
Feel free to put up multiple ideas for me to choose from, if you'd like a bit of a surprise; if you'd really like to be surprised, just leave it at "I'd like an icon," and I'll pick an interest off your User Info.

b) any other specifics you'd like me to incorporate
A favorite screencap, a particular line or snippet of text, a colour you'd like me to use (or avoid) -- if you don't supply any of these I'll just use my own discretion.

Go to it!

--
*No worries, it's nothing fatal, just inconvenient and wearisome. The lingering case of pink-eye doesn't help either.

I would LOVE a Sydney-and-Jack icon, something of more cheerful flavor than this one, if that is possible with Syd & Jack. But not a humor icon -- just a happier one. Can you do this?

Happy Syd and Jack Icon

Finding a clear screencap of Syd and Jack together which could be considered "happy", without one or both of them being in some ridiculous disguise, proved somewhat difficult. However, I did come up with a screencap where Jack, at least, was smiling a little.

I couldn't decide which colour scheme looked better, so I'll leave the choice up to you:

Image...Image

The text is the first half of a Russian proverb (the second half of which is "Clever mother, clever son"). But if you have a better idea for text, I'd be perfectly happy to put something else on instead.

Okay, so upon forty-eight hours reflection those both pretty much sucked, I admit. If I come across a better screencap maybe I'll try again some other time. Sorry.

Yipe! I just now saw this, and no, I love it! Don't you change it a bit. Forgive me for not seeing it and doing serious squeeing far earlier. :D

Really?

*is surprised and pleased*

Oh, okay, then!

*eyes icons dubiously*

You sure? I'm thinking the background might benefit from a bit more smoothing...

Ah, I am so sorry for being cryptic. I didn't feel I knew you well enough to request an icon, and yet I hope that you feel better soon... So yes, the latter. :-)

I sure hope you're a Monty Python fan, or else this won't make too much sense. But when I saw "Immanuel Kant" on your Interests list, it was the first thing that popped into my head...

And - Ah, I must admit that I am afraid not ... but I shall go forth and seek it out. Any you recommend particularly?

Well, here's the source of the text on the icon:

The Philosophers' Drinking Song (http://www.library.adelaide.edu.au/guide/hum/philosophy/philos_song.html).

It even has a .wav file on the page so you can hear the original Monty Python version. :)

Yes, I was one of those people... and this is what I originally said, and they still stand.

a) An icon which is writing-related. Either in my favourite fandoms(*) or something generic; the kind of thing I can use when talking about fanfic writing.

b) An icon which is vaguely biblical/religious. No, I don't know what to put in it, if I did, I'd do it myself. Anything from Scrolls to the Cosmos...

(*) If you're not sure what my favourite writing fandoms are, then look at my fiction page to see what I've written for...

Pink-eye. Ick. My mom had that for awhile. Not fun. Hope you feel better soon.

Icon.... well, I can't decide which I'd like most so here are a few ideas.

(a)An HP character icon with something Christian on it (i.e. in the style of your Snape-saved-by-grace icon), or a Russell/Holmes with a pithy quote that they're so good at, or one about writing/reading (doesn't necessarily have to have text).

(b) Use your own discretion. I trust your judgement on this :-)

If you have time and an extra icon to share, I'll take one. No worries if time runs out though.

More importantly, please feel better soon!

Free icon? Really?

(thank you!)

I like surprises. Really. The only idea I've had on my own for new icons (and you can make this if you want) is based on a hand-lettered sign I saw today at the library, on a shelving cart: (red, all caps) "I'm bad, squeaky & obnoxious"
I was going to take a picture of it but my phone has a low battery.

Do whatever you want. Surprises are fun. (I have an abundance of Tom icons, though, so you can skip that interest, hehehe).

Hey, doodle-queen ;-),

I'm not quite sure what pink-eye is, but I'll offer comfort anyway

*hugs you after sneakily donning plastic gloves*

Given that I'm selfish and, despite having your iconage already, want more - maybe Kalan/Violin/Viola ot3?

Or, if you're offering animated ... um, the bit where Kalan does the 'testify!' hand reach in 'Lady' in a completely involuntary way?

Or, if these don't appeal to your icon-making skillz ... hmmm ... anything on my user info?

Thanks so much!

Wow, what an offer. If you're really bored after all the above requests...I've been pining for an icon with some variation of "Tests are a gift. Great tests are a great gift." (Cordelia Naismith Vorkosigan) on it.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yep. Spelled phonetically. :-) "Birth, beginnings, the dawn of a new age...."

Very few people actually catch this. I'm going to visit your LJ now.

LOL. I'm going to visit yours, too. :)

I will forever treasure the moment that I achieved my official geek qualification: being quizzed by a couple of geeks who wanted to find out if the new girl down the hall was really worth their time. They could ask me any question they wanted to, and it turned out to be: "What do the stripes on the sides of Han Solo's pants signify?" which I answered by giggling with delight and delivering a short homily on the Imperial Academy.

...on the other hand, I sometimes can't remember why I went into a room, or where I've cunningly hidden something that I didn't want to lose track of. I think maybe the processing power that's supposed to be devoted to important things goes to maintaining fun but useless information.

Ooh, pick me, pick me!

(If you're not tired of icon making by the time you get down to me, anyway.)

I've been wanting a happy/joyful/excited/squee! mood icon for awhile--the dancing nanoscholar (**points to icon**) is the closest I've got, but the "chemistry is fun!" text just doesn't cut the mustard for all occasions of celebration--but for the imagery of said happy mood icon, please do go ahead and pick something from my Interests and surprise me :)

And do get better soon.

Icon!

Hope you're feeling better soon, Syn. I'm feeling greedy requesting another icon, but if it sounds like something you'd want to make I'd be thrilled.

I've had this icon idea stuck in my head for *months*, but given my complete lack of awareness of how to make icons it hasn't seen the light yet. And it's really, really schmoopy. So, here is my very specific and oh so cheesy idea:

- screencap of Kalan and Theresa singing to each other during the True Colours duet
- childlike or playful type of font for the caption
- caption reads:
Kalan + Theresa (across the top)
= Friends 4Ever (across the bottom)

Hope the sugar shock didn't kill you!

Oh, so many icons, and only one to choose from... hmm. First on my list would be an Odo icon OR an Iron Chef icon. Hee!

Hope you're feeling better.
