Think post-DH fic, circa the Epilogue, or maybe a few years earlier.
Think high-stakes adventure genfic with plenty of excitement and danger, lashings of humor and a sprinkle of romance (with a certain dreamy-eyed naturalist, perhaps). And let's not forget the cameo appearance by the Giant Squid.
And it's called...
DENNIS CREEVEY AND THE RESURRECTION STONE.
Seriously, wouldn't that be awesome? I order all of you to go out and write it right now. Round-robin style if necessary.

Ever since I read DH I've been feeling a bit sad that ( everything in this post, pretty much, is a SPOILER )
So here is the idea I don't have time to write, but it makes me feel a little better just thinking about it: ( The Idea, which is mine... until I check the book again and realize there's no way it could work )
*wilts*
*shakes fist in the direction of the UK* CURSE YOU, JO!
*sigh*
No, not really. But it was harsh of her to ( do that spoilery thing ), I think.

People are asking me what I thought of Deathly Hallows, and I don't want to disappoint them, but the fact is, I feel like I need to re-read it to decide how I ultimately feel about it. Yet I have no desire to re-read it any time soon, so that makes me feel like I'd better just keep my mouth shut. In the meantime I'm afraid you'll have to put me down as "ambivalent".
I will say, however, that I am pleased and surprised that in my Snapefic "If We Survive" (which is SO NOT CANON otherwise, alas) I anticipated by more than five years the idea of ( SPOILER )
I was also right about ( MOAR SPOILERS PLS )
And with regard to the deaths in general: ( Spoilers -- O RLY? )
Finally, some things I really did love: ( Guess what's under here? )
So there, some thoughts. Not a full review, but better than nothing, right?

Before you click on the cut below, I don't wish to sound all arrogant-like, but I did totally call one of the biggest shockers of Book 6 two days before the novel came out. So even though this is pure speculation on my part, and not based on any inside knowledge or even rumor about the contents of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, you might want to steer clear if you're hoping to be surprised.
I wanted to write this up in a more sophisticated, essay-like form, with references and whatnot to back up my ideas, but I don't have time for that right now. So I am afraid you will have to put up with a condensed version of a very informal chat I had with
cesario instead, for which I do apologize.
( My predictions for HP Book 7, including the real reason Snape is so hard on Harry, the meaning of the gleam of triumph in Dumbledore's eye, and what we're seeing on the cover of the American version, among other things that could very possibly turn out to be SPOILERS )
Now I am going to go and re-read books 1-6 and cry, thanks.

So there I was getting the baby ready for bed tonight, not thinking about anything in particular, tra la la, when all of a sudden I was mugged by two humongous HP plot bunnies. Did you think I'd pretty much forgotten about HP for the time being and was just sitting here waiting for Book 7? I bet you did. I know I did.
( The premise of the first and lesser bunny )
However, the second one really freaked me out when I thought of it, and the more I thought about it from various angles the more fearfully plausible it became, until I began to think that if JKR doesn't do something along these lines in Book 7 I won't just be disappointed, I'll actually be surprised. I ran it past
lizbee and
cesario and they agreed that it was definitely worth posting for public consumption, so here it is, ( the plot bunny that ate the fandom )
So there you have it. Fire away.
