Because
a) you can never have too many Snape icons (he's the little black dress of fandom);
b) it fits in perfectly with one of the main points in my Convention Alley presentation, and will be a good reminder to me that I really need to write that outline and essay;
c) I'm very pleased with the results I'm getting as I'm learning more about text and brushes in Photoshop; and
d) I thought it was about time somebody used hymn lyrics on an icon, and the quote here reflects what I believe about myself, and my own relation to God.

So there you have it.
I've found a couple of good step-by-step tutorials on how to make clear, attractive icons in Photoshop, most notably [livejournal.com profile] isabel0329's, but I still stink when it comes to doing text and I would love to see some more tutorials that deal with this issue. Right now, when I make an icon, it seems to take 2-3 hours on the average, of which I spend about 1/4 of the time on the picture and 3/4 mucking about with the text trying to make it look half-decent. This strikes me as a little excessive. :)

Anyway, if you've come across a decent tutorial in your travels, would you mind sharing the link in the comments? Thanks muchly.
I already posted this on the blog, but I am desperate enough to put it up here as well in the hopes that somebody can tell me how to fix the problem...

My beloved Photoshop 5.0 LE isn't behaving any more. I can't use either the Type or Type Mask tools -- the fonts are all there and the options box for setting the type comes up just fine, but as soon as I go to apply the text to the image, all I get is a rectangular marquee (with Type Mask) or a solid box in the foreground colour (with Type). This happens regardless of what font or font size I choose. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, but it didn't help. Nor could I turn up anything on a Google search to help me with this problem.

Does anybody out there have the foggiest notion of what I'm talking about or how to fix it?
