Should have talked it over
Should have thought it through
I think I might have bit off
A little more than I could chew
Well, I have got to get out
From underneath this weight
Or it's gonna kill me

But the shining of the silver
The glimmer of the gold
Kept giving me a fever
But left me feeling cold
I'm right back in the middle
And if I don't come out soon
Come in and get me

'Cause I keep slaying all these dragons
But more keep coming
And I keep praying for this fight to end

Uh, oh, here I go
Wading through a lot of stuff you know
Juggling it all while I'm balancing on a wire
Slow down, I have found
Seems that every time I turn around
Got one foot in the muck and another foot in the mire
Well, I'm scaling down, pulling back
Got to try
To simplify

I put my golden ring on
Unseen I went down where
War and peace collided
Inside the dragon's lair
When pleasure is your master
Convenience is your king
Your heart's divided

I keep weighing
All these options
More keep a-coming
I keep straying
From the way I'm told

Uh, oh, here I go
Wading through a lot of stuff you know
Juggling it all while I'm balancing on a wire
Slow down, I have found
Seems that every time I turn around
Got one foot in the muck and another foot in the mire
Well, I'm scaling down, pulling back
Got to try
To simplify

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] infiniteviking:

Step 1: Put iTunes/your music program of choice on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

Rules:
1: No skipping songs because they're embarrassing! (Unless they're just music/a movie)
2: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is cheating!

Hoo boy, good luck getting these ones... )

Seriously, the majority of these are so obscure that I will be shocked, I tell you, shocked, if anyone gets more than three. In fact I am so sure that nobody will guess three answers that are not all by the same artist, that I promise to write a ficlet for the fandom/character of your choice (assuming it's a fandom I know about) for anyone who does. That's without Googling, remember...
First, one that I took on my own and scored a frightening 110% on -- I did miss a few songs along the way, but I made up for those losses by getting most of the obscure (and therefore higher-scored) answers plus a couple of bonus questions.

80's Music Test )

Now for the really fun lyrics quiz, and as Dora the Explorer would say, "We need your help!" Created as part of this year's MIT Mystery Hunt by the perennially clever and witty [livejournal.com profile] callyperry, it's a quiz called "Denial". And since it was designed to be solved by a group, I'm asking my f-list to help me out.

Here's how it works... )

So... anyone on my f-list care to comment with your guesses?

ETA: Got another one! )
Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] rilina: On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first twenty songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing), and write down your favourite lyrics. Then, have your friends comment and see if they know the songs.

Not really embarrassing, but some of it's wonderfully obscure... )

As for my comment on tonight's episode of 24:

Don't worry, it's spoilerless )
