...somehow the bunny got named this afternoon without any input from me or the LJ Fairy at all. The nerve! I ask you.

According to Simon, it is going to be called "Softy". And at least for now, the name seems to have stuck.

Oh, well.

[livejournal.com profile] lydaclunas is coming to visit me next Wednesday! All the way from Deep In The Heart Of, where the Yellow Roses bloom! And we're going to watch S2 Who together and squee like fangirls! Yay!

In other news, we now have a bunny, in addition to our two guinea pigs. The guinea pigs are called Boo and Strawberry, but the bunny is nameless. My children are uninspired, and the neighbourhood children are even more uninspired ("Brownie?" The bunny is grey, people.) Therefore I will take a poll.

[Poll #784016]

And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] martoufmarty, who is making all my new icons these days.

ETA: The bunny is a boy, by the way.
Which LOST Character Am I? )

And speaking of LOST... I finally managed to see "Confidence Man". Spoilers ho! )

I'm thinking that Watership Down really is a great book to have connected with the show, even apart from any character similarities. It's about being forced out of your comfort zone, not knowing where you're going or what you'll find; it's about the most basic issues of survival and the search for a home; there are dark places and strange new things, and every character has something different and important to contribute before they all find the security and safety they're looking for. Kinda nifty, really. I almost want to read the book again to see what other similarities I might notice.
Having noticed the following minor spoiler for last week's LOST -- with accompanying commentary ) I am intrigued to see how this may play out.

On another note, I just finished Jasper Fforde's latest Thursday Next book, Something Rotten, and although I still find the series a bit gimmicky and the characters thinly developed, I got some good laughs out of this one. Especially when I came across this bit of conversation between Thursday and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle about recent developments in the BookWorld, which instantly made me think of [livejournal.com profile] lydaclunas:
'Starbucks want to open another coffee shop in the Hardy Boys series.'

'Another one?' I asked with some surprise. 'There's already sixteen. How much coffee do they think they can drink? Tell them they can open another in
Mrs Dalloway and two more in The Age of Reason. After that, no more.'
Hee!
