Not for any particular deep reason, except for me to have a record of them in case I need them in a fic...

SYDNEY: Was Freelancer up until middle of S2, now Mountaineer (I do not get the significance of either of these, personally)

VAUGHN: Boy Scout (*rolls eyes*)

WEISS: Retriever (so. perfect.)

JACK: Watchtower (ditto)

We now return you to your regular programming.

Oh, and HP? I haven't forgotten about it. Not entirely, anyway. Still waiting for the word from [livejournal.com profile] conventionalley on my Snape proposal...

Sydney's call sign

I always thought Freelancer made sense when she was a double agent. After all, she wasn't officially employed by the CIA, which would make her a freelance agent.

Why they changed it to Mountaineer mid-season, I don't know. Probably they had a meeting where they said, "Hey, this call sign doesn't make sense any more. We'll call you something else." Maybe the mountaineer part comes from her climb up Mt. Whatever in Italy to prove she wasn't the Chosen One?

I thought Jack was "Blackbird." Or was that just his SD-6 name? I think that's his SD-6 name.

And do you know Dixon's call sign?

Ooh! I'd forgotten about his SD-6 call sign. But yeah, the CIA one is "Watchtower", according to the most recent episode.

I don't know Dixon's, alas. I don't think we've heard of his CIA call sign yet; and I forget his SD-6 one, though it shouldn't be hard to find it.

For some reason, I thought Syd's was also 'Bluebird' at one point in SD-6. But I may be confusing hers with Jack's. ::shrug::

Yeah, Syd WAS bluebird at SD-6. Her first CIA codename was Freelancer. Then she became Mountaineer sometime in S2. Jack's SD-6 codename was "Blackbird" (which goes with "Bluebird"). I was happy when we finally hear his CIA codename.

Mountaineer: I thought it was because that's the Sydney drives (or drove at some point.) But the Mount Subasio idea is probably right... Freelancer seems pretty clear cut: she was freelancing for the CIA at the time.

Boyscout: I actually that's very fitting, particularly because of the "boy" part. I'm of Jack's opinion when it comes to Vaughn. I think Vaughn never grew past his father's death. He probably still dreams of saving his father in an act of heroism or something. Emotionally, Vaughn is not very mature, imo.

Retriever and Watchtower: what you see is what you get, and then some, because these two surprises with Alice in Wonderland books and take-out chinese. In a crazy game of chess, they'd protect Queen Syd, and they do.
