(Either that, or it is going to be the worst thing ever and I'm going to want to go after Spielberg and Peter Jackson with a very large mallet. But right now I am too all about the Tintin love to be cynical.)

Also, there is a Tintin LJ community: [livejournal.com profile] boyreporter. Pity the layout is so AUGH MY EYES MAKE IT STOP!!! But I suppose that is what ?style=mine is for...

YAY!

Also, you're right about the layout of boyreporter. In the unlikely event I ever want to induce a migraine, that's where I will be.

Oh! YAY! Daniel Craig will be perfect.

We have a copy of Tin Tin in Tibet in Tibetan. We also have it in English, but it is very cool to have in Tibetan.

Very cool indeed!

...Does the porter whom Haddock cannons into in Kathmandu speak Tibetan too?

I'd have to check the copy. My husband reads Tibetan and I don't so I just sort of glanced through it when we got it.

Oh, this is the one that Steven Moffat wrote the script for! I heard that Spielberg wanted Moffat to do two movies, but Moffat turned him down to do Who.

Not familiar with Tintin myself, but I think I shall have to become so.

I love Tintin and can't wait for this movie. It makes sense to use Unicorn because it's part of a four-book series. It's all about the sequels.

I might be completely idiotic, but what is "Secret of the Unicorn"?

The first part of the story. The second is titled "Red Rackham's Treasure". Like a couple of other Tintin stories (in particular, the great flight-to-the-moon epic), this was too long to feature in one album, so it was published in two parts.

One concern. Red Rackham is a minor figure in the comic book. To call in a star of Daniel Craig's level, I am worried that they may have rewritten it to give him more space; and once you start messing with perfection, you usually end up with the kind of inferior Hollywood product that gives adaptations a bad name. Let's just hope not, because a Tintin adaptation is overdue.
