Thanks to my lovely generous editor, I can has the new The Magic Thief book by [livejournal.com profile] sarah_prineas! And also [livejournal.com profile] maprilynne's Wings!

My son will be much offended if I read the former without him, so I must contain my mad curiosity for now. But I have already started on the latter, ignoring the pile of library books looking reproachfully at me from the corner.

Also, I have FINALLY conquered the Dread Pirate Roberts First Scene of Chapter Eight in Touching Indigo, which has been causing me woe for nearly seven months now. Onward and upward!

Nothing like conquering a dreaded scene. I did that myself, today. Feels great, doesn't it?

P.S. I am having much envy over the books you have in your possession.

Oh my gosh, you would not believe the jolt of excitement and terror that went through me when I saw this entry!!!

A bookseller emailed yesterday to say she'd received it, too. Yikes. So they're really out there.

Okay, so book two. I changed editors midstream, so we did another round of pretty extensive edits after the ARC was done. The final version is a bit tighter. Also there are no snakes (you'll see) (editor said they were to Potter, even though I haven't read Potter). And the "shadowmen" are now "shadows" and a lot creepier. Anyway....! I'll stop rationalizing now. I hope you like it! I think it's a better book than the first one.

Onward! Good luck with the second scene of chapter eight!

You would not believe the jolt of excitement that went through me when I saw the courier at the door! And you would also not believe the look of pure delight on my son's face when I waved the ARC at him as soon as he got home!

I saw the enclosed letter mentioning that there were changes to the final version, but in any case I will be very surprised if we do not both love it. :)

Oh, they put a letter in! That's good to know. I knew they were discussing doing something like that, but I hadn't heard the upshot. Well okay! I will stop rationalizing.

It depends on what your definition of "shortly" is. :)

I won't be parceling it out chapter by chapter, so it'll be January at least before anybody sees it. But by then I hope to have a complete draft done and ready to share.

OK, that works. I've been wondering how the ruddy thing comes out for nearly a year now, so it'll be nice to find out all at once. :)
