...so that Dangerously Overinvested Readers like myself could hang out on author blogs and encourage them to write crackfic about their own characters.

(Seriously, though -- Sebastipole and Europe on the vinegar seas battling pirates and evil monsters and falling in love? WOULD BE AWESOME.)

ETA to justify this post's existence: A really smashing D.M. Cornish interview over at SFRevu.

Hey, don't mean to interrupt the fun, but I have a question for you.

I need the name of a Canadian (prefer a French name) woman well-known for political or patriotic service to your country.

Also, if you've got any links to "how to write YA SF" I could use those.

Thanks!

My knowledge of Canadian history is woefully inadequate, so the only name I can think of off the top of my head is Laura Secord (http://www.histori.ca/minutes/minute.do?id=10118) (and she wasn't French). Beyond that, Google is as much my friend as it is yours, I'm afraid.

As for YA SF links... again, I'd be Googling. Sorry.

Oooooh. I loved Foundling like whoa and handsold at least half a dozen copies in the first week we had it, back when I worked at Books of Wonder. It is absolutely killing me that I have to wait for the second book.

Lamplighter is currently available in North America... or are you somewhere else at the moment? Anyway, it is even better than Book One. So much love.

I know it's available, but I am currently under a (self-imposed) moratorium on buying new books. I have so many books right now that our movers (we're moving house soon) estimated I have 86 boxes of books.

So I am only allowed to buy used, or take out of the library. Most of the time, this is okay, but every now and then it kills me something awful. This is one of those times.

I wish you a happy move and many new books to follow, then!
