Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] carbonelle:

What music did you listen to when you were a teen? Search YouTube for the album that you played the most in your green youth, and post the results...

You're all tired of hearing me burble about my love for Talk Talk and David Sylvian by now, I'm sure. Time for some Aztec Camera!

Love that pink eyeshadow and those red parachute pants... and now you know where the icon I've used on this post really comes from. But did you know that the album on which this fabulous song and cover art appears is called Knife? S'true.

Also, speaking of musicians who influenced my writing, you all need to go watch this video, because "Waning Moon" is a wonderful song and Peter Himmelman is the one who introduced me to the concept of synesthesia, and YouTube has disabled embedding by request, humph.

Oh 80s. Sometimes, I wish I had been born 10 years earlier, but then I see videos like this and I realise that I would never have been able to gracefully live down the crimes of fashion.

Did you hear that CH is doing another North America tour late this spring?

I get to see them, in NYC, for the first time ever. Whee!

I saw them sitting front row center at the Elgin Theatre in Sudbury back in 1986. Best concert EVER. (Though Elvis Costello was pretty awesome from front row center at Massey Hall in Toronto, too.)

I hope you have a wonderful time!

It must've been amazing; I had a ticket to the 1994 concert in DC - the one where there was a fire alarm so they finished by busking in the patio area - but couldn't go, and now I have no recollection as to why. Maybe a moot court thing?

It'll be weird without Paul, though (sigh, poor Paul).

My first time seeing Neil (1998, Orlando) was one of the best concerts I've ever been to, but seeing Roddy in DC in the summer of 1994 at the 930 Club was probably one of the top two concerts I've ever been to. Tiny place, fantastic sound, adorable ickle Roddy. Perfect.

ooooh, this sounds like a fun meme.

I love your mentions of music- close enough to what I like that I generally add them to my list of 'stuff to find', far enough away that I haven't heard of them or hear some new detail.

lol at the red parachute pants!

my_daroga: Mucha's "Dance" (books)
From: [personal profile] my_daroga
My husband and I have "Spirit of Eden" and "The Colour of Spring" on fairly constant rotation when we're working on stuff (that and The Doves' "Lost Souls", Kate Bush's "Aerial" (the second disc), and late Scott Walker). It's perfect good music that's not distracting but not so bland as to be pure background.
