Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] mctabby by way of [livejournal.com profile] lizbee. It's just too bad I don't have the brainpower to be either funny or clever with it, but oh well...

I have a trilogy. It's called Darkness and Light.
It's about truth, and courage, and love.
But really, deep down, it's all about grace.
It might also appeal to readers who aren't afraid of May/December romances.
It has: OCs, Hermione, funny bits, flashbacks, het, Snape, the Sorting Hat, present tense, angst, Draco, true love.
It doesn't have: smut, Time-Turners, spiders, Peeves, slash, cats, Lupin, grammatical errors, the Giant Squid.
It is not a WiP.
If you read it, I'll thank you from the bottom of my heart.
If you don't read it, I'll be all sad and mopey.
If you read and review, I'll write you a gushing letter telling you how much I appreciate it.
And by the way, it's written under the influence of the Bible and Laurie R. King.
You can find my story here: [link]

Something like that.

You know, if there's one thing D&L needed, it was squid.

::mentally inserts squid into background of random scenes::

::re-considers, then confines squid to scenes in vicinity of lake::

See, this is why I love you. Everybody else who said something was lacking in D&L seemed to think it was the smut. :)

I am now trying to remember if there even are any scenes in D&L that take place in the vicinity of the lake. I think Maud passes it in IWS 6, but in that case the squid's activity would have to be rather limited:
As she trudged up the snowy road toward the gates, a strange sound caught her attention: a wet tentacular slapping from the direction of the lake. She looked down, and saw a large, undulating shadow below the ice; it looked as though the giant squid had risen to the surface and were trying to break through.

How very odd, she thought, and hurried on.
There. Don't say I don't do you no favours.

If she were Alice, she would have gone in the lake. Though I suppose she had better things to do.

*considers Alice/squid crossover, but only very briefly*

Erica
oh, and congratulations on being plagiarized, because I think that's really the only thing one can say...

I can live without smut. I have a fair idea of how everything happens; I don't need a play-by-play. But squid, now that's important.

I'd send you a detailed essay explaining why I think the squid is an enormously interesting and attractive character, vastly underappreciated by most D&L readers, but you'd probably just throw things at me. ^_^
