I forgot to report this conversation with my three-year-old, from yesterday morning:
Nicholas (crawling into bed and cuddling up): I love you, Mommy.
Me (sleepily): Mmph. I love you too, sweetie.
Nicholas (with great satisfaction): Good. Then we can be friends.
Of course, he spent the rest of the day being a disobedient little roach and generally making my life miserable (though I suppose I should have known better than to try and make spaetzle with two kids underfoot), but oh well. Hopefully today will be better.
