Gacked from... well, about everywhere. I'm only going to list a few, though. Most of my titles are fairly straightforward and don't have any interesting stories behind them.

Whirlpool Heart: It's the title of a song by an obscure British 80's band called The Wild Swans. The week after I saw the first season finale of ALIAS, in which Vaughn apparently drowns in front of Sydney's horrified eyes, I walked around with this song running through my head. Then the idea of drowning turned into an extended metaphor for Vaughn's falling in love with Sydney, and soon I had a story. This would be the closest I've ever come to actually writing a songfic, but in fact the lyrics of the song don't really fit that well, it's just the title.

Touching Indigo: I just love the word "indigo". Plus I was looking for a phrase that said "synaesthesia" right off the bat, and the climax of the story is when the narrator touches the TARDIS and synaesthetically perceives the essence of the Doctor's personality, so it just fell neatly into place. This is still probably my favorite story title ever.

The Potions Master's Apprentice: More than anything this is evidence that when I started writing about Snape and Maud I was really not taking the enterprise seriously or expecting it to amount to anything, because it's a lame title that doesn't actually fit the story that well. I just meant it as an homage to Laurie R. King's The Beekeeper's Apprentice, in which the retired Sherlock Holmes takes on a fifteen-year-old girl as his protege in deduction.

I'll have to finish later, since the baby's woken up. And BTW, I am planning to get around to answering your questions some time soon. Really.

Hey, I thought Potion Master's Apprentice was a good name, and I don't know anything about Laurie R. King. It...suggests things. Although admittedly I was a little surprised when I started reading because Maud wasn't really an apprentice so much, and here I thought we'd have someone learning the fine arts of snark and stalking around in billowing black robes. Teehee.

Well, yeah, that's where the "lame" part of it comes in. Of course, I came up with the title before I wrote the fic, so I've only myself to blame.

The other big problem with that title is that it always gets archived and rec'd wrong (not understandably either). It's "Potions Master", as in the title of Chapter 7 (I think) from PS/SS, not "Potion Master". So a lot of people have had difficulty finding it because they were looking for the wrong spelling...
