Well, today turned out to be rather anticlimactic.
That message I'd been working on and worrying about earlier in the week? It all came together very nicely, thanks to a free day on Tuesday when Hubby took the kids to his mother's and I was able to focus on study and preparation for several uninterrupted hours. So I felt decently well prepared to go and talk to this women's group, and since I have friends there and they'd offered to take me out to lunch afterward, I was even looking forward to it.
Early this morning, however, I woke (thanks to Simon, who seems to be incapable of sleeping beyond 6 a.m. these days) to find 100 kph winds blowing sleet in a straight horizontal line past the front window. Needless to say, this did not look like a good day for driving, and at 7:30 a.m. I got a call from my hostess, saying that she didn't think it would be safe for me to come and that they'd probably end up cancelling the meeting anyway. And it turned out to be a good thing I didn't go, because within a few hours all the roads in and out of our county had been closed anyway.
So, I ended up spending the day housebound, trying to think of ways to amuse the kids. And here I'd been looking forward to a morning out. Sigh.
I guess winter has really arrived...
