[livejournal.com profile] susanwrites is collecting pictures of where fellow artists create, and started off by posting a picture of her own gorgeous workspace. I can't compete, especially since I share the office with my entire family (as witnessed by the extra computer, the random toys, the guinea pigs' cage, and the climbing toddler in the background) but here's where I write:

I apologize for the really awful condition of that office chair. It needs repair and a cleaning quite badly, after months of being chewed and/or drooled upon. Here's a much nicer view of what's behind me:

And for those who want a closer look at either the toddler or the guineas or both:

I so don't want to know what he's doing to those pigs, do I.

Gorgeous workspace!

Poor girls, they're so skittish after being towered over and enthusiastically patted on a regular basis. I've been surprised by how gentle he is with them, though, given his age. Not that I still don't pull him out of there as soon as he gets too close...

Gorgeous icon!

Awww! My family had guinea pigs for a few years-- we had two adults and, eventually (the neutering failed, sadly), three children. They were so CUTE, but very smelly.

Humm, I think I see some Sayers books (which are on my bookshelf) as well as some Bjold (which I have too) on that bookshelf. Not to mention the Harry Potter dueling set Lego (which is also on my shelf). What fun! :)

The Sayers are actually on another shelf not pictured, but I do have them!

Really? Hum, the books on the second shelf from the bottom in the middle strongly resemble my copies of Sayers books. What books are they then? *is now curious*

Georgette Heyer, actually. Right between the Connie Willis (at the end of my SF section) and my Mary Stewart suspense novels...

Asterix or Tin-Tin?

Both! The complete set of TINTIN and about twenty-five of ASTERIX.

*has realized to my shame that I have no Tintin icons*

Aside from the fact that everything is much cleaner in your house, it is a familiar picture to me--right down to the climbing child whose face says he's busy calculating his next stunt while still in his current one.

what a cutie!

Don't apologize for your chair. Mine looks a bit rattier, actually.

Looks like a very happy workspace!

Shaun the Sheep!

Hmm. I always picture writers as people with messy desks--notes and scribbles everywhere, etc. Or maybe that's because my own desk is so messy. Anyway, lovely!

Argh! Now I feel REALLY bad about how my office looks if you're apologizing for your space. It would take me two days just to clean up my desk to get it looking as organized as yours.
