So I just ran LJArchive on my journal (no, I'm not worried about losing my LJ account nor am I planning to move, but the recent kerfuffle reminded me that it was time to do a backup) and when you look at the Word Count meter, there is one word I have used more than any other since I started posting in 2002.

Leaving out common words like "the" and "because" and so on, can anyone guess what that word is?

Hints:

1. It is a noun.
2. It has more than four letters.
3. I have used this word 594 times, and the possessive version of the word appears an additional 145 times.

First person to guess correctly gets a drabble with the character(s) of their choice. (I know, I know. Try not to be overcome with my creative generosity.)

ETA: Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] yunitsa. Her Snape drabble is here.

Snape? (With a silent S, it would have to be.)

You win!

The #2 answer? Harry. (Never would have guessed that, myself.)

Seriously? I wasn't even going to guess that, until I had the urge to break the run of Ns ;) And Harry was on my list of possibilities as well - from personal experience, any proper names in posted writing tend to jump straight to the top.

Do I get a biscuit?

You do! Which flavour of biscuit would you like?

For old times' sake, could I get a Snape-flavoured biscuit? Um. Or a ginger-snap.

Snape was reclining in his armchair, long fingers turning the pages of a venerable and notorious book, when his solitude was interrupted by a rap at his door. Lip curling in irritation, he rose to answer it.

There on the step was a small girl in pigtails and a blue Muggle tunic. As he glowered at her, she looked hopefully up into his face and piped, "Would you like to buy some biscuits, sir? It's for--"

"No," said Snape curtly, and shut the door.

A moment later the knock sounded again, timid but persistent. Snape flung the door open again and snarled, "Are you deaf, or merely an idiot? Go away."

"They're ginger," said the girl, resolutely ignoring his glare. "And it's for a good cause... sir."

Snape's eyes narrowed. His cold gaze swept over her, taking in the scuffed knees, the bony elbows, the blue shadows beneath the wide brown eyes.

"Ginger," he said, in a more level tone. "Is that so."

She nodded.

Snape glanced one way down the street, then the other. At last he dug a crumpled bill out of his pocket, shoved it at the girl, and snatched the box from her hands.

"Oo! Thank you, sir--"

The door slammed shut in her face.

Hee! Fabulous :) I love that even Snape cannot resist the lure of ginger biscuits.
