I've been overwhelmed by all the congratulations, well-wishes, and general enthusiasm expressed in the comments to my last post. Thanks so much, all of you.

And as if that weren't enough to fill my cup of gratitude to the brim, my longtime net.friend and sometime beta reader/technical consultant, the talented and witty astrophysicist Doug McNeil, has just made me cry. Thank you, Doug. You are a gentleman and a scholar, and if I should get any of the SF-nal stuff in Touching Indigo embarrassingly wrong, it will not be your fault.

Speaking of SF, I am reading johncwright's Orphans of Chaos and it is making my brain come out the top of my head. I haven't even finished the first book and I want the second one already -- many thanks to carbonelle for the rec.

A line from my Doctor Who fanfic "Sacrifice" was quoted in kateorman's tie-in novel The Room With No Doors, as the introduction to Part Two of the book. That was back in, erm, 1997 or so?

RJA! It's been a few weeks since I had time to read your feed -- and there's such good news here! I'm so pleased for you. An agent is harder to find than a publisher, and a great one is worth their weight in really fine chocolate. Like, Bergomont Lavendar Extra Dark.

I just ran into him on a mailing list for the old Fidonet crowd, where I introduced myself and asked if anybody remembered me. He promptly replied that he'd never heard of me and told me to go away. I heart him. :D
