The judge I got for the [livejournal.com profile] fangs_fur_fey hook contest was kinder than I'd expected, but still -- my hook was too vague.

Well, I really wasn't ready to submit my first five pages anyway (especially since I'm still working on the first draft). And I have a much better idea now of what specific parts of the hook need to be clarified and expanded, so even though I didn't make it to Round 2, I can still feel that entering the contest was not in vain.

Ow, my wrist. *stops typing and goes to look for brace*

hahaha, i'm not even ur friend (*friends you after this comment* :D) but I got the same about my hook -- it was too vague, and I realized that before it was posted and after reading other hooks. I truly had no real idea what the hook was. I never thought of a hook for a book in that manner. So, it was a great learning experience for me.
(BTW, my hook is #51)

Thanks for the friending! Yeah, it was really helpful -- I can't believe people are being so ungrateful as to complain about how their hooks were judged.
