I made it!
KNIFE - The Hook
She didn't ask for pages, but she didn't stomp all over me with hobnailed boots, either. Now I just have to try and figure out how to incorporate a few more plot details into the hook so that the story's internal logic comes through. So... useful, yes.

Date: 2006-12-22 09:51 pm (UTC)Difficult to know what to advise when I don't know the whole plot (that's not fishing, by the way). If I'm being honest, I think that there's some repetition of ideas in what you produced (specifically re the link between loss of magical power and extinction). It basically seems to revolve around the importance of the role of the Hunter (as this seems to be the crux of her dilemma) and her relationship with Paul. Personally, I'd look at that (but like I said, I'm not familiar with the plot beyond the chapter on your site and what you've written here).
Good going, anyway! I'd be interested in reading it.

Date: 2006-12-22 10:05 pm (UTC)I've been reading the new Crapometer, and while it seems that fewer people are submitting truly absymal things, the ones who are seem determined to send her some gruesome stuff. You did quite well! Did you submit your real title or did you not want the title "Knife" on the Crapometer in case she didn't like it?
I toyed with the idea of sending her a hook for my boy-bitten-by-werewolf novel, nearly completed, but I'm busy making notes of all of the comments she's been making on people's hooks this time around. What I've probably seen the most is, "Why does it really matter that the protagonist should do {whatever}? And why should I give a damn?" I definitely want to make sure people give a damn, after all. :D
