According to a reliable source (well, at least according to the spoiler thread on TWoP, and they're a pretty skeptical bunch about unconfirmed stuff), Lena Olin is coming back as Irina in the 90-minute season finale. Of course that's a long way away, but dude, I am so there.
Also, speaking of JJ Abrams, GIP! I don't usually like to use other people's icons unless they were made specifically for me and therefore are not likely to be spotted in a zillion other LJs, but I have no idea where I might go about finding this screencap to make my own version. Besides, I like the lighting and Josh Holloway brings teh pretty in a truly impressive way so... here it is. Thanks to

Date: 2005-03-23 02:38 pm (UTC)I'm not averse to coming back if it suddenly takes a turn for the better, though. It's not like I hate the show, by any means; I just find myself emotionally disengaged from it at the moment, and not particularly worried about what happens to any of the characters. It's a bit like Season 9 of X-FILES, where I caught an episode here or there but really couldn't trouble myself to tune in until the finale, because watching Doggett and Reyes and Scully without Mulder just didn't interest me and from everything I'd heard Scully was Not Really Herself anyway. Still, I didn't have any trouble following the plot then, so I doubt I'll have much trouble catching up on ALIAS at the end of this season either.

Date: 2005-03-23 02:17 pm (UTC)That is definitely some good news. I've actually been watching Alias but making fun of it with Rick. It's fun, we're thinking that maybe what the show really needs is a good dose of actual plot.
So does that mean you'll try to catch up on past episodes? Maybe not as in watch them but read up on what's been happpening? The actual important parts probably would only take about 10 minutes. Sad really...

Date: 2005-03-23 02:47 pm (UTC)So I find myself watching the show in a state of complete detachment from the actual story, with no sense of personal involvement or concern for any of the characters. If a character says something that makes me laugh, I no longer think, "Aw, Marshall's such an adorable nerd" or "Ooh, I just love Weiss," I think, "Heh, that's a pretty decent bit of dialogue scripting there." It's more like watching The Making of ALIAS than watching ALIAS itself, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, thanks to my friendslist I'm still up to speed on the major developments -- I can always count on

Date: 2005-03-24 08:45 am (UTC)On the other hand, maybe not. I think the only reason I've kept watching as faithfully as I have this season is because it's a good excuse to get together with one of my other friends who hasn't given up watching yet. I understand your lack of emotional engagement with the characters because so far, although I was completely engaged in season one and two, I'm not at all engaged with season four.
