I've never felt personally offended by one of these pieces of fluff before, but I am now.
I did the quiz, and I got "you are a Dubliner".
Not inherently so bad, actually (my great, great grandparents were). If wrong.
But then I looked at the other possible answers, none of which allowed me to be 1) British 2) From the UK 3) English.
Britain is in Europe, you know. And the IRA let off 5000 bomb in my home town in 1996. and I don't think anyone promulgating a similar quiz about "Which Middle Eastern Country Are You?" who offered "Palestine" but not "Israel" would be surprised if they got a bit of flak about it.
I didn't see all the possible results, but that certainly explains why I didn't come up English the way I usually do. Not to mention it's more than a bit odd that the quiz offers "Dubliner" but not "Irish", "Bavarian" but not "German". If this quiz were "What Kind of North American Are You?" would the available answers be "Torontonian", "Californian" and "Illegal Mexican Immigrant"?
If it's any consolation, the person I got the quiz from was peeved that it told her she was "Italian" when she is in fact Sicilian - "There is a difference."

Personally, put out.
