Using the updater more as a prompt than a substitute... though by rights this ought to be in the blog and not an LJ entry, but whatever.

I got out of bed a little later than usual because the kids let me sleep in for a change, but the two-year-old woke me twice during the night just so I could give him a drink of water and cover him up again. Gnarr.

I feel strange because the antibiotics I'm taking give me a horrible taste in my mouth. And I do mean horrible. I mean, as in, bad enough to wake me up in the middle of the night just to say "blech".

I'm so tragically inert. I can't seem to get anything even remotely creative done these days.

Last night I had to wash the kitchen floor, sweep the hallway, and do two loads of laundry. Hm, I wonder why I wasn't feeling very creative?

I am terribly pleased with myself for having Zoned my favorite sweet-and-sour meatballs recipe, just by swapping fructose for the brown sugar and cutting back a bit on the pasta. And hubby couldn't tell the difference! Yay!

Today, I got a digital camera! Yes! (*sigh* I wish.)

I want to say thanks to my friendslist for helping me procrastinate relax.

That's enough for now. But I'll leave you with this thought - sharing your life with strangers on the internet is the cheapest form of therapy available. Unless you get fandom_wanked for it.

I got a digital camera for $20 at Wal-Mart. It's dreadfully simple, but still, it's a digital camera.

And during Holy Week too

It's not like we get to choose when we get sick, but it's harder when it's just before an important holiday.

I checked out The Zone on your rec last month (and actually read it when you said you'd lost 10 lbs in a month) and was mightily impressed. The Hubby and I need to go on diets after Pascha (Easter) and this one looks not only doable, but one that we can stick to for a long time. My father has been intrigued by the South Beach diet, but his cardiologist isn't impressed and said to stick with the diabetic diet he's been on for the last year.

After months of eating mostly carbs, going to a low carb (but not a no carb) diet looks very appealing. Just not until after the Pascha bread is done.

Yeah, the real difference between the Zone and the fad "low-carb" diets like Atkins and South Beach is that it doesn't unnaturally increase your protein levels or decrease your carbohydrate levels to unsafe and extreme conditions at any point -- it's just about adjusting the balance so it's 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% healthy fats, and watching what particular carbohydrates you eat.

I haven't eaten rice in the past two months, but I have eaten tons of pasta -- nearly every casserole recipe I have from FormulaZone seems to use noodles of some sort. Though today I did make a 40-30-30 dish with potatoes, and I found there were more potatoes there than I even wanted to eat...

In the past month I have also eaten numerous chocolate chip cookies, Oreos, a chocolate bar... this is what I like about the Zone, you can fit anything into it, and if worst comes to worst and you absolutely blow one meal, then you just get back on track with the next one. It's a very forgiving way of eating, I find. And I'm eating lots of veggies and fruit, which is all to the good.

Are you going to share that recipe?

All right, I'm an idiot. I was trolling around FZ looking for something for dinner tonight and there it was.
