Yum!

Delicious things I have been enjoying lately:

1. Snickerdoodles, made from kizmet_42's recipe. I made a double batch this year, because my husband ate most of them last year before we even got to Christmas. Next up on the Christmas baking list: steamed carrot pudding. If I get really ambitious I may even make The Thing (a super-rich three-layer square you keep in the refrigerator -- recipe available on request).

2. Saffron cake, or rather the glorious prospect thereof, since my mother is in the process of making it downstairs at this very moment.

3. Homemade whole wheat bread, which my father kneaded with his own hands. None of this newfangled breadmaker nonsense! And it makes truly fabulous toast.

4. Celestial Seasonings' English Toffee herbal tea. I'm not normally one for herbal teas, because they usually smell wonderful but taste pretty much like hot water, which always disappoints me. However, this one is an exception. *cuddles tea*

5. Pesto, which we had with chicken and pasta for dinner. There is no such thing as too much pesto, in my considered opinion. It is the food stuff of the gods.

And finally, something which delights me but has nothing to do with food: a verse from this hymn.

Alike pervaded by His eye,
All parts of His dominion lie;
This world of ours, and worlds unseen,
And thin the boundary between.

Those last two lines just gave me a shiver up my spine -- a good, awestruck kind of shiver. As a fantasy reader and author, I love stuff like that.
