It's a....

Well, I had my ultrasound yesterday, at 20 weeks, and it looks like the baby is:

a) alone (*breathes sigh of relief*)
b) the right size for dates
c) healthy
d) very active, and
e) male.

So that makes three boys, which follows the same pattern as the last two generations of my family. Of course, those two generations also had a girl tacked on at the end; only time and circumstance will tell if we get that far. I'm certainly not going to start planning #4 when I haven't even delivered #3 yet!

At least this should make naming the kid less difficult. My husband and I always have a terrible time agreeing on girls' names, but boys' names have always been pretty easy, once I get him to stop making jokes about how what he really wants is to name his son Mowgli or Fauntleroy or possibly Methuselah.

At least... I think they're jokes...
I've been trying for the past two months to get my expired membership on the Outpost Gallifrey forums to reactivate. Only today, after much frustration, did I realize that the whole time I'd been giving them the WRONG E-MAIL ADDRESS and that their activation e-mails were going to the old account that I had prior to our move in November.

This is not quite as stupid as it might sound given that I am accustomed to always responding to registrations with my Pobox forwarding alias rather than my direct ISP address, which has always worked fine for me before but for some reason seemed to be unacceptable to Outpost Gallifrey. But still, you'd think I would have clued in before this...!

Oh, and since there seems to be some confusion on the matter after my last post, IT'S A BOY. Not a girl, nor, alas (to my children's considerable disappointment) a baby dragon. :)
And good ones, too! Eeeeeee!

I'm sorry, it's just that having been crazy about Doctor Who since the age of seven or eight (and that was back when Tom Baker, of the "teeth and curls" and interminable striped scarf, was playing the role), I'm not used to all these new kids on the block with their fresh-scrubbed faces and their shiny toys. Part of me is nervous lest DW fandom go the same route as LotR fandom and be drowned in a sea of RPF, Mary Sues, and canonically indefensible smut; on the other hand, it's so cool to see what can be done with the new series and new technology. Relative newbies are making icons and wallpapers and vids -- and even writing some nifty character-driven fics.

All of which is to say, go watch this, willya? 9th Doctor/Rose, no significant spoilers, and you can follow it even if you haven't seen the series. It's charming.

Hm. I can see I need a happy DW icon...
