Don't say I didn't warn you...

This blog may at times contain thoughtful essays and nifty links, but at other times I use it for a) whining about minor physical ailments; and b) writing down the cute things my kids are doing right now so I won't forget when they're older and stop doing them. This post contains both. You are hereby licensed to skip it if such things irritate you.

First, the tooth. It has gone from wobbly-feeling to a near-constant throbbing ache. It also appears to be turning grey. *sob*

Second, and entirely unrelated to the first, my nearly-two and nearly-four year old children seem to enjoy giving thanks before meals. We didn't try to teach them how to pray, we didn't ask them to pray, but after watching us for a while, they just started doing it. These are, verbatim, their current prayers:

Simon: (folds hands together, screws eyes shut, whispers) "Our Father... thank you Father... (very loudly) A-MEN."

Nicholas (closing his eyes and tossing his head restlessly from side to side, as though impersonating Stevie Wonder): "Dear heavenly Father thank you for Simon and for the lovely food* and thank you for sending your son the Lord Jesus to die on the cross of Calvary for our sins and for Nicholas's job** Amen."

Simon also likes to make comments in the Breaking of Bread service on Sundays. Especially after we sing hymns. "Nice music!" he exclaims, into the silence. Of course, most of his comments have less to do with what's going on in the service than some interesting thing he's discovered on the floor. "Look! Dead lay-dee-bug!" It's all very edifying to the congregation, I'm sure...
