Mmm... booky goodness!

Re-reading:
  • The Dubious Hills by Pamela Dean
A fantasy novel unlike any other -- at least, that I've ever read. The premise is fascinating, the characters diverse and vital, and as usual, Dean's prose just sings. There's plenty of dry wit, shrewd observations of character, and delicious turns of phrase. Now if I could only remember what the book is actually about... (but I don't blame Pamela for that, I blame my own flighty memory and over-hasty reading habits. Besides, I'm only a quarter of the way in). Recommended.

Borrowed from my brother, and really looking forward to:
  • On Looking Into The Abyss: Untimely Thoughts on Culture and Society by Gertrude Himmelfarb
  • All God's Children and Blue Suede Shoes: Christians and Popular Culture by Ken Myers (host of the Mars Hill Audio Journal, which I love)
  • What We Can't Not Know by J. Budzizewski

I'll have more thoughts, I'm sure, when I've actually read them...
  • Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] mctabby by way of [livejournal.com profile] hedda62:

Take the last line/sentence from the most recent ten posts on your friends list (right now) and post them.

    The amusing results... )

    Heh.
