(no subject)

Can someone explain to me why it is that when I try to do a simple MP3 download from WinMX, it takes just as long through my networked DSL connection as it used to take with my 56K modem and dialup? And even more confusingly, it doesn't seem to affect people downloading stuff from me -- I gave out three songs in the time it took me to download one.

It doesn't take me that long to download programs or video files from web pages or FTP sites. So what, I wonder, is going on?
