O frabjous day! (I say that a lot, as you might have noticed. But it's just so expressive.)
Our re-ordered sofa and chair arrived yesterday afternoon and they're very nice indeed. Durable-looking fabric, in a subdued pattern that doesn't show lint and dust like the original one did. Nicholas hasn't complained about not "wiking" this set, either -- though admittedly, the old sofa and loveseat haven't been taken away yet. We'll see what he says about it tomorrow morning.
By the way, is calling a sofa a "chesterfield" really a Canadianism? I never thought about it, until Kathy Li pointed it out on RUSS-L a few weeks ago...
