So, I had a fine old time getting Simon to sleep last night. He was fussy and miserable for about two hours, but after I fed and cuddled him practically non-stop from 8:30 to 10:30, he finally nodded off. Then he slept straight through to 4 a.m., which was nice. But after the 4 o'clock feeding, instead of sleeping until 7 - 7:30 as I'd hoped, he woke me up again at 5:45 a.m. And then he was wide awake and bright-eyed, and not interested in doing anything but smiling at Mommy and waving his arms. Needless to say, Mommy found this behaviour endearing, but not quite as attractive as another hour's worth of rest. So I worked to get him back to sleep again, and finally succeeded around 7 a.m....
...at which point, Nicholas woke up.
Oh, well. I have to remind myself that for Simon to sleep 6 hours in one stretch, even if he decides to get up with the sun, is a wonderful bonus -- Nicholas woke me up 3-4 times every night until he was 7 months old.
