I was joking about the bit with Maud going to Snape's grave -- I can't really imagine being inspired to write such a fic, though you never know and it all depends on how things turn out in Book 7 and how JKR handles Snape's death (if it happens).
The short answer to why I keep revising (or, in this case, adding to) D&L is because I like to have things arranged in such a way that I could believe these things really were going on in the background of canon. If I know for certain that something in my stories contradicts canon, then I either want to correct it, or write a new story. AU's are all very well, but I'm not that fond of them for the most part: they don't fit into my suspension of disbelief.
In other words, I am being pretty much entirely selfish about this -- anyone who prefers the old versions is more than welcome to hang on to them and I'm very glad to know that they're loved and enjoyed, but at the same time don't be surprised if I keep revising and rewriting for my own benefit. :)
Re Snape dropping to his knees -- I was deliberately echoing IWS 6, yes, but in this case the reason for his collapse isn't grief for Dumbledore's death (I'm assuming he's got over that, as much as it's possible for him to do so, by this point) so much as shock at how close he'd had to come to killing Maud, and fury at his own self-betrayal. Perhaps I should have made that more clear, though.
