That was very, very lovely. I'm probably one of the few reading this who doesn't know your Maud, but she seems like the kind of mature, sensible, take-no-nonsense kind of woman who would not only be able to love Snape but also be able to live with him. He's not an easy man to like or love, and he wears that mask of his so completely that it would take a very sharp to person to see past the lies. Or, perhaps, someone with just a whole lot of faith.
The character of Snape feels very comfortably canon here. Particularly, I liked how Maud's 'test' of him almost fails: He says the words, he actually tries to kill her. In the end he can't do it, of course, but I think it's a very telling point of his character in light of HBP that he actually attempts to.
Also, I just must add that I find your fic here very encouraging. It makes me feel as if my own Snape/OCFC might not be so uncanon as I had feared it had become in the wake of HBP. This is a wonderful little story! Thanks for sharing it! :D
