When I think of Susan after the end of Narnia, I also thought that she had survived. But I also thought: her entire family has just died. Any time I tried to think of her as silly or conceited after that, I just couldn't.
I guess I was always mad at Susan for being weak...falling away from Narnia, forgetting, not being able to say aloud that she's seen Aslan, submitting to peer pressure...but I was also mad at Lewis for seeming to say that this weakness is reason to leave her behind (orphaned and alone).
That said, I like this essay and I like your fanfic idea very much.
