You might want to give it a month to dry out before you give up on it completely.
I spilled the contents of a mug that had contained oatmeal and was now soaking all over the keyboard of my laptop when I'd only had my laptop for three weeks. After it had dried out for another three weeks, it was functional, but with some quirks (I couldn't use the backspace key, only the delete key, and the tilde key stuck at utterly random moments). Over the course of the next year, as it continued to dry out, the quirks gradually went away.
