Ooooooooooooh.

If you love Dorothy L. Sayers in general and Gaudy Night in particular, you must pop over to [livejournal.com profile] friede's online gallery and have a look at this. Really, really splendid stuff.

ETA: And then go and leave a comment for her here.

I'm just getting into Sayers--you and Friede and Connie Willis finally convinced me that I really must find out why it is that you like to quote Lord Peter's proposal to Harriet Vane. I checked out a pile of her stuff from the library the other day. But I haven't read it yet, so if you don't mind, where's the best place to start?

I'm butting in to answer that they do go in order. I can't recall the order right now, but it's the order they were published.

That said, I should admit that I read the Vane novels first: Strong Poison, Have His Carcase, Gaudy Night, Busman's Honeymoon. They're my favorites still.

Publication order is listed here: http://www.geocities.com/wimsey_lovers/publicationorder.html

Or you can certainly start with Strong Poison if you're in a hurry for the romance to begin. :)

Gorgeous. Really gorgeous. And one of my favorite scenes ever. :)

It made my heart go pitty-pat. I tried to review it because I think it's simply stunning but the site wouldn't let me. Thanks for linking us up.

Ooooh my. Vivid painting of that scene, like it was a poem.

[fanfanfanfanfan] Lordy. Nice visualisation.

Irrelevant to both this post and my previous comment, you might like to look at the nifty Alias iconage here:
