ARROW Release Date, UK Trip Schedule, and UV Status Report

I am happy to announce that today is the official UK and Ireland release date of Arrow! It should now be widely available in bookstores, and I hope my readers will like it.

***

I can also now share a little more detail about my planned trip to England at the end of this month. I'm still waiting for confirmation on a few times and locations, but I'll be splitting my time between London and the North, and the general run of events will look something like this:

31 January:
Book Signings at Foyle's (Charing Cross Road) and Blackwell's (also Charing Cross Road), London (PM).

1 February:
Author Visits to Rossall Junior School, Lancs. (AM) and Benton Park High School, Leeds (PM).

2 February:
Author Visits to Royal Grammar School, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (AM) and other school TBA (PM).

3 February:
Two more school visits in London and Area (details when available).

I'll also be in London on 4 and 5 February, as my plane doesn't leave until the 6th -- so if there's anybody in the area who would like to get together on the Saturday (or can recommend a reasonably priced hotel in central London for me to stay in on Friday and Saturday night!) then I'd love to hear from you.

I am now wonderfully close to finishing my last major revision of Ultraviolet before it goes to the copyeditors and gets turned into galleys. I plan to get the final chapter written today, then spend the next three days reading it over and giving it one last polish before it's out of my hands.

And then, gentle readers, I shall collapse, because 2010 has been by far the busiest and most demanding creative year of my life. I guess that's what happens when you have a book coming out every six months in 2011/12. But it's been rewarding and enlightening, too.

Belated best wishes to everyone for a happy 2011!

Woohoo! England trip!

Hooray on all counts! I can't wait to read them!

Enjoy your rest. :)

The other morning, I thought "You know what, I'm going to buy them all in English covers, and donate my NA ones to the church" and then I thought "...but the NA ones are SIGNED." and I haven't come up with anything since.

Maybe Arrow will be the book that breaks me out of my obsession with matching sets...

BOOK TOUR!!! That is so exciting.

Well, the US hardcovers already don't match, and if they ever get around to publishing ARROW I suspect it'll be redesigned yet again, so... yeah. You might as well. :D

*makes plans for January 31st*

Foyles or Waterstones, Waterstones or Foyles? Can't decide...

[identity profile] branquignole.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yaaaaay! I am so so so excited for Arrow! Going to buy it as soon as possible. And I'm also really looking forward to reading Ultraviolet as I think it's bound to be rather different from the Knife books. :)

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2011-01-07 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, yes. Very much so. :)

I'm quite nervous about it, actually.

[identity profile] alawston.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Saturday 5th? Yes, I'll be in London and would love to get together. I will also try and attend one of the signings on the Monday, depending on what's happening at work and what time they are.

It would be awesome to meet up after having read your stuff for so long and having missed you last time you were over here. Let me know what your plans are!

I can't recommend hotels sadly - before living in London I always opted for friends' floors. My friends stayed at a lovely B&B out by Barnes Common last time they visited me, it would be about 45 mins from Central London, but easy to get to via trains - should I enquire for details?

[identity profile] alawston.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to pick up the book tomorrow at lunchtime, but I suppose I should wait until the signing now...

Also, I wouldn't be a true resident of Southfields if I didn't ask whether you'd consider The Golden Treasury (http://www.thegoldentreasury.co.uk/) for a signing? They're kind of fab.

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2011-01-07 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I am not the one setting up the signings so I can't do much about that! But I agree it looks like a great store.

[identity profile] alawston.livejournal.com 2011-01-07 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah well, nothing ventured :)

But yes, I am in and around London on the 4th and 5th and would love to put a face to the books/blog/Usenet/email.

Signings in London on 31 January are Foyle's - 12:30 p.m. and Blackwell's - 1:30 p.m.! Hope one of those works out...

[identity profile] elle-winters.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay!! *excited*

Oh, excellent! Best wishes for your time in the UK - I hope that all goes well!

I don't know if it's the area you want, but my family spent a week at the Best Western near Victoria Station a couple months ago. It was nice, reasonably priced, and the staff went above and beyond to help us out while we were there. Plus, it's within easy walking distance of the underground station, where there are plenty of handy restaurants and a small grocery store that's open late, in case you're wanting to pick up a few things after a long day out. It may not be the least expensive you can find, but I'd say decidedly worth it. :)

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds fantastic! Thanks so much for the recommendation, I really appreciate it!

[identity profile] imbecamiel.livejournal.com 2011-01-06 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You're quite welcome! Just let me know if you'd like any more details, and I'd be glad to send them to you.

(If you do decide to stay there, though, make sure it's in the main building and not the annex. According to friends who've stayed both places there's a big difference.)

Ooh, thanks for the clarification! I'm glad you warned me about that...

Ooh, very exciting!

Oooh, London book signing... this is where we frantically beg managers at work for time off right ;)

Any ideas of times for the signings? PM is more promising for sure though.

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2011-01-07 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
No fixed times yet, but I'll update as soon as I have them!

How exciting! I wish I still lived near enough to London to pop down - maybe one day they'll send you for a Scottish tour!

Congratulations! *throws book b-day confetti*

My pre-ordered copy arrived (in Australia!) via Book Depository today! Yay!

[identity profile] lady-schrapnell.livejournal.com 2011-01-07 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, excellent! Can't wait to get my hands on it! Arrow, that is, lest it sound stalkerish about your trip this close to my part of the world. :P

Hmmm, wouldn't I love to make it to London then though...

[identity profile] sarahtales.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Noooo, another trip when I am in the Americas!

FATE WHY DO YOU CONSPIRE AGAINST US.

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It is most grievous! Clearly you will have to come to Toronto one of these days, is all.

However, SARAH WHY DO YOU REWRITE THE END OF YOUR BOOK WHEN I CAN'T READ THE NEW BITS FOR ANOTHER SIX MONTHS, is what I really want to know. *sobs*

[identity profile] areth-lovejoy.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
A very blessed and amazing 2011 to you!

And I have already ordered my copy, as well as one for my sister, of ARROW and they should arrive next week! *squee*

[identity profile] shveta-thakrar.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yay for Arrow, yay for your trip, and yay for being at the copyedits stage!

[identity profile] davidbrider.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Any word yet on the times for the Waterstones and Foyles signings? With less than a week to go, neither of them are showing at the stores' websites, which is rather troubling...

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
My apologies! Yes, I have the time for Foyle's -- 12:30 p.m.

And the other signing isn't at Waterstone's apparently, it's at Blackwell's (which seems to be practically next door to Foyle's, so I find this rather confusing!?) at 1:30 p.m.

It's not listed on the Blackwell's website either.
