Fantasy Casting Serendipity

I heard on the radio that Canadian figure skater Jeffrey Buttle had won gold in the World Championships this year. I'd never seen the guy or even heard of him before -- I've been out of the skating (toe) loop for quite a few years now -- but I figured hey, this is what YouTube is all about, so I went and looked him up.

And not only does it turn out he skated his winning long program to music by a lifelong friend of my brother's, soundtrack composer Mychael Danna -- it also turns out he's the closest living resemblance I've yet seen to my male MC from Knife, Paul McCormick. (Yeah, I know I said that about Alex Pettyfer, but even though he's the right age, he's a little too pretty to be credible as anything but a model or an actor. Whereas Jeffrey, though about eight years too old for the part, looks more like a human being who might actually not have spent his entire life posing for pictures.)

Anyway, for my fellow skating fans, here's the long program:

Though unfortunately I don't have any stills of him large enough to make a good icon, so I'll just stick with The Prettyfer for now...

The first still is gorgeous. What a beautiful man. In a very manly way.

Yowza!

Neat! I am never any good casting my own books but I really enjoy seeing what others do.

I love Mychael Danna's not-a-soundtrack Celtic Romance and Celtic Legend CDs and use them regularly for background writing music.

When I saw him on the news the other night, I thought he looked about 16. I couldn't *believe* it when they said he was 25. :)

Wow, that was a fantastic ice dance! (Nice looking guy, too!)

I've been out of the figure skating loop as well although I know of Jeffrey Buttle (I remember him winning Olympic bronze). Didn't watch any of the World's this year. He kinda disappeared for a while cause of injury, his back, I think? Anyway, Buttle's win was a complete surprise. I mean, he lost the Canadian title to Patrick Chan! And BOO to Joubert (who came in 2nd) for being a sore loser.

He's definitely a cutie, though :)

Question: what does MC stand for?

MC = Main Character.

And yes, Joubert is a big fat whiner.

Paul looks like Jeffrey Buttle? OK, now I, like, HAVE to have this book. I mean, I did before, but, y'know.

I first saw Buttle winning the bronze at the Torino Olympics in 2006. Wouldn't call him beautiful, exactly - too much mouth - but he's a regularly adorable little funnyface for all that. And goodness, what a skater.

Well, admittedly, Buttle's wide frog-mouth with the lopsided grin, though charming in its way, is not like Paul. (Nor is the very light, almost effeminate tenor voice -- Paul's a baritone.) But when he's looking serious, or just smiling slightly, he's very Paul-like indeed.

Works for me...*stares fascinated at new icon...*

Oh, wow, he'd be great for Paul! Terrific choice.
