Weekend Wordcount

One day I will be capable of writing more than 100 words an hour, but apparently not this day -- or indeed this past week.

389 words.

I did get Chapters 1-3 of Touching Indigo revised, however, after receiving many wise and helpful comments from my beta-reading team... or at least those members of the team who have turned in their comments so far. (Ahem.)

So the week was by no means wasted writing-wise, although to my chagrin I'm having just as much difficulty getting the creative juices flowing on Chapter Four as I was having with Chapter Two of Wayfarer a couple of weeks ago. Feh.

That's a lot more than I accomplished this week -- see, it's all a matter of perspective.

You are a wonderful encouragement. Thank you, for this and all the great work you do on [livejournal.com profile] clean_slates to keep our spirits up.

Did my return email with 'Indigo' get through? I always get nervous sending emails with large attachments. The machine seems to want to spit them back out at me.

I did get them, and I appreciated them greatly! Sorry for not letting you know before.

No problem! I'm glad they got through.

(Ahem.)

Oh, damn, something else I've forgotten about in the wake of RL. Le sigh.

You, my dear, have nothing to apologize for. Take all the time you like -- or skip it altogether, if you've got too much on your plate. I understand.

Err... ahem. Tomorrow is a holiday and I have it off work so priority will be getting all those little scribble comments digitized and to you. *facepalm*

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Thank you -- I look forward to seeing them.

Sent! Hopefully to the right email - let me know if you don't get them. :)

Something must be in the air. I'm having a tough time producing as well. I dropped in to say hello. I originally found you on myspace. I'm from Toronto (born and bred), but married an American and now live in S. Cal.

Hello, and welcome! Us struggling writers have to stick together in the face of all these people burbling, "I wrote 8000 words today! And cleaned the house too!" :)

[identity profile] barrieinca.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You are too funny! :)

OH MY WORD I want that icon.

Do you know how long I have been looking for a decent "Take on Me" video icon? Apparently I don't look in the right places.

There's more here (http://magickly.livejournal.com/58096.html#cutid1)!

[identity profile] lydaclunas.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY!

I got all excited when I followed the link to the 80s_icons community, until I realised it consisted mostly "Breakfast Club" and "Pretty in Pink" and (for some reason) Motley Crue icons, and then I cam across someone advertising a Scritti Politti icon and my head exploded.

The end.

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, Scritti Politti is STILL AROUND. And Green Gartside is unrecognizable. Also, the New Yorker thinks his latest album is terribly clever, and now I've gone all curious. See what happens when you remind me of these things?

For some reason, holidays and weekends are the worst time for me to write. Too much going on at home, I guess.

I bet they were a great 389 words, though!

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, weekends are tough -- which is why I usually spread a day's wordcount over the entire weekend. However, there's a certain psychological boost to "starting fresh" in September when the kids get back to school, which I hope to take advantage of...

And thanks for this and your other encouraging comments! I'm thrilled to hear that your revisions are going well, too.

While I think it's good you're so ruthless about self-discipline I do feel that you underplay the importance of editing with your wordcount thing. Revising three chapters AND putting out some new wordage is a great achievement for a weekend by my standards!

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I sometimes wish that I'd never even heard of wordcount, but I can't seem to quit now I've started. Sigh.

[identity profile] leah-s.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Did mine go through? I sent it by email and it didn't come back to me so I took that as a good sign.

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It did indeed! Thank you! I really appreciate it.

[identity profile] barrieinca.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The other thing that makes the words flow s-l-o-w-l-y for me is when I'm unexpectedly given time to write. For eg., my wonderful dh is leaving in 10 min. to take the kids bowling. Perfect writing time, right? Yes, I say, thumping table assertively. I will write. MANY words. Wish me luck. :)

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I do! Go for it!
