Who Finale Predictions

I am now all out of spoilers, so these are based on nothing but speculation and gut instinct. However, I feel confident that in the last two episodes of S3 we will see at least one, probably more, of the following:

1. The Master will try to win Martha away from the Doctor, using all the resources of charm and/or mind control at his disposal. He will not, of course, succeed.

2. Martha will die heroically saving the world, just long enough for the Doctor to
a) scream "NOOOOOOOO!!!";
b) carry her lifeless body in his arms, much as he carried her through the hospital in 1x03;
c) realize that he loves her (albeit leaving the exact interpretation of said "love" up in the air);
d) become very, very angry and do something ruthless to defeat the Master.

After which

3. Jack will lose his immortality, or rather give it up so Martha can live

4. The Doctor will kiss Martha to complete the process of reviving her (exact interpretation of said kiss again left up to the individual)

5. The Master will appear to be utterly defeated, but we will get some clever hint that he may have escaped after all

TEH ENDINESS.

How likely do you think it is that I've got at least three of the above right? I'm thinking the odds are pretty good.

Now it's your turn. What are your predictions?

The Doctor and the Master end up fighting at the top of a mountain cataract.

;-)

And then the Doctor name-drops Irene Adler for the win!

Ooh, you saw the same Tennant interview I did!

*delurking after a very, very long time to say*

Martha has to make some sort of terrible choice between the Doctor and her family.

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, good one. I'll agree, and further to my #1, I'll bet it's the Master who forces her to make that choice.

[identity profile] wojelah.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I see that bet, and raise you that he does it with an eeeeeeeeevil smile. Possibly of the manic variety. o:-D

Some form of Dalek involvement.

And with any luck, a cliffhanger to be resolved in the Christmas special.

David.

I vote yes on the Daleks getting name-checked, but no on them actually showing up or being a significant part of the plot.

I've seen tabloid photos of Daleks being taken to a London location, around the time the finale was being filmed. *sads*

CURSES! They're like the Borg all over again!

[identity profile] lizbee.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't that the Cybermen? *runs away giggling*

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
No, the Borg were the Cybermen all over again. Get your chronology straight! :)

I think you've a good chance of your three.

Definitely that the Master gets away; that's a given. Though he might have been forced to regenerate (depending on whether they think they can get John Simm to play him again or not).

And there will be taunting. Much taunting.

Further predictions

[identity profile] lizbee.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Any expression of affection, admiration or indeed any positive comment the Doctor makes about Martha, will be seized upon by Ten/Rose shippers and retconned so he was thinking about Rose when he said it.

2. Whatever happens, a loud minority of Jack fans will complain that Jack wasn't in it enough and it wasn't about him.

3. The "brother" remark from "Smith and Jones" will come back to haunt us.

4. The slightest mention of Gallifrey, the Time War, etc will be seized upon by Romana fans and used as further evidence that she's still alive.

5. At least one hardcore oldschool fan will take offence at something.

6. For a few shining moments, the fandom will unite to go, "BZUH???" at something RTD says.

Re: Further predictions

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Can I start now on #6?

And Romana IS alive, dangit. Canonically (TV-canonically, that is), she's still in E-Space with K9, and if that isn't safe I don't know what is. *nods emphatically*

Re: Further predictions

[identity profile] notfromvenus.livejournal.com 2007-06-19 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, RTD wrote in the annual that she'd been President of Gallifrey during the Time War. So he clearly thinks she's dead. I bet if there's any mention of her, it'll probably be like "yeah, my girlfriend Romana was President, and now she Iz Ded and it's All My Fault ::teary eyes::".

The Doctor et al will get back to present-day London using Jack's space hopper, leading to snark.

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed!

[identity profile] jamesbow.livejournal.com 2007-06-19 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, the Master's TARDIS is still theoretically around in the year 100,000,000,000,000...

That was my original thought, but I have a feeling that the Doctor will have to ask for Jack's help.

[identity profile] cryptile.livejournal.com 2007-06-19 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
scream "NOOOOOOOO!!!"

Whatever else does or does not happen, that is so gonna happen.

[identity profile] singingtopsy.livejournal.com 2007-06-19 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
1. There will be embarrassingly bad American accents.
2. The Doctor will decide that, as Prime Ministers go, Harriet Jones wasn't that bad after all (am I seeing things, or does the screaming blonde woman in the trailer look a lot like her?).
3. Concerning what the Doctor's "off-hand" comment about opening the heart of the TARDIS and absorbing the Time Vortex: "If a Time Lord did that he'd become a god. A vengeful god." A Time Lord, whether the Master or the Doctor, will, or attempt to, do that.
What I wish would happen but won't:
4. Martha will discover that, although she cares for the Doctor, her Unrequited Love is more like puppy love and that she is brilliant on her own. And she stops being Rose-Tyler-but-smarter. One companion stuck on the parallel universe of Arrested Development is quite enough, thank you.

[identity profile] ravensnape.livejournal.com 2007-06-19 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to guess, but as you know BBC isn't showing this seasons Doc here yet. Can you hear my SCREEEAMMM of frustration from across Lake Huron yet?

[identity profile] notfromvenus.livejournal.com 2007-06-19 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
(from who_daily:)

I'm thinking #1, 3, and 5. And maybe 4 (or maybe Jack will kiss her). I doubt she'll die, though. Oh, and:

6. The Master will capture the Doctor and seduce gloat at him.

[identity profile] reveilles.livejournal.com 2007-06-19 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
There will be monologuing up the wazoo, so that the heros have enough time finish puttering around and go work up a modicum of dramatic tension, which quickly immediately dissipate while we watch David Tennant writhe and mug to his heart's content. And pillows will be hurled at the screen in RTD's honor.
