You know that thing?

Where you're on your third day of the flu and you've got acute bronchitis and there's all this imitation-vanilla-pudding-colored goo in your lungs and you've coughed up all the stuff that was at the top of your lungs and now it's coming up from, like, the very bottom? And you have to keep swallowing or you're gonna choke, but then all the gooey stuff ends up sitting in your stomach and making you feel horribly nauseated and there's this nasty metallic taste in your mouth even though you've just eaten two pieces of toast with jam to try and get rid of it?

I hate that.

There is not much I can do except offer you my sympathy. Would you like a drawing or a drabble?

Most kind, thank you.

I spent the whole week like that last week. I'm still coughing. When it went green, i went and got antibiotics, ugh. And yes, it was very nauseating, and off-putting to foo, which tasted weird for the first few days.

And i lost half a stone. oops. Not that i didnt have it to spare!

*hugs* hope you get to feeling better asap!!

Try some guaifenesin, which goes by the name "Mucinex." It helps get the gunk up. Really works. You'll cough less, and probably stop choking.

You can't get it at the drugstore? Or online? It's super-cheap, and here in the U.S. is over-the-counter, no prescription necessary.

*seconds the offering of a drawing*

*tries valiantly to resist suggesting that you 'need a Doctor'*

Yeow. I hope you feel better soon.

I second the guaifenesin recommendation (that's what keeps me from snoring), and want to add to it both strong mint tea and ginger ale (although not at the same time!) - the tea and ginger ale can both help your stomach to feel better (I get this kind of gunk too...)

hope you feel better soon.

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Mint tea is about the only thing I can do at the moment, but it is helping, thanks for the suggestion!

Ouch, I'm so sorry you're sick!

I third the guaifenesin recommendation -- perhaps you can get an OTC cough syrup with it? Like Robutussim (sp) DM?

You poor dear!

How horrid for you!

Hope you feel better soon, and that you are getting some help with the kiddoes.

With you on the faux-vanilla-pudding angle. To-the-point if awful. Raising the fist in solidarity.

MUch sympathy.

I find savoury works better than sweet. Marmite, yeast extract, vegimite, on toast or a small spoonfull stirred into a cup of hot water. And to think how strange I thought the old remedy of hot beef tea was when I was younger.

I'm a little late, so I hope you're feeling better by now. *hugs*
