FWIW, I think Lupin was always intended to survive, so I doubt he's taken any reprieves. I would guess the new survivor would be Snape or Draco. The extra deaths sound bad for the Weasleys. JMO.

Yeah, him getting together with Tonks pretty much guarantees his survival vis a vis the Unified Lupin Theory I developed after book five came out: JKR has made Lupin, poor man, rather miserable; therefore, he must either a) become a father figure to Harry b) acquire a girlfriend (Tonks being the most likely candidate) or c) die, and thusly be put out of his misery.

If Snape survives I bet he goes to Azkaban (or at least he does in my fic).

Because he's the one who's going to kill Voldemort! At least, according to *my* fic, until Rowling comes through with book 7 and destroys all hope.

No opinions on Lupin, though I'd like him to survive. I'm pretty sure Harry will die, but I'm hoping not - maybe J.K. Rowling will find a way to reprieve him? (I can't imagine how - but maybe she will; he's her character, after all!)

I would also really like Hagrid to survive. And Neville and Luna. I guess we just have to wait and see at this point.

Fire elemental, eh? Huh. Too bad I'm dead, otherwise that be rather interesting. *g*

As to the deaths, I think Draco has just gotten the reprieve, but his parents will bite the dust saving him. JKR went to some length to set the Malfoy parents up as a bit more sympathetic in HBP. Naturally, they'll pay for that with their lives.
