O IM Buddies, Where Art Thou?

I have TEH NEWS to impart. Don't get too excited, mind you -- it's not about the book, it's just about the baby (heh, just).

I shall be on around 9 p.m. EST tonight. Page me!

P.S. Somebody tried to page me and I accidentally rejected you while in the middle of typing something else. Didn't even get to glimpse the name. Try again?

[identity profile] wahlee-98.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
But why aren't you on right now? :P

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Because I had to put the kids to bed? Am on now, though.

[identity profile] reveilles.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
How do we page you? Where will you be? News! Information!

(Btw, [livejournal.com profile] jcobleigh and I loved the guinea pig post!)

[identity profile] kissedbythegods.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I just read your news on KP4GU and wanted to congratulate you! Congratulations! So "Kalan" is out of the question, but what about Caelan?

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, most kind of you! And not in your lifetime, toots alas, I think not. :D Even if I were sold on the name, my husband would never go for it... he's more of a traditional type. I long ago reconciled myself to the fact that I would never be able to name a daughter Taryn, either...

[identity profile] kissedbythegods.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
You're very welcome! I'm really quite excited for you - boys are darling, of course. So what names are we looking at now that we have a gender? But it is a traditional name! traditional Welsh, anyhow. I say you push this angle.

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
OMG YOU SHOULD HAVE PUT THAT UNDER A CUT TAG BECAUSE THAT WAS A SPOILER YOU INSENSITIVE JERK!!! Oops, never mind, I thought for a minute I was posting on [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho.

I am all about the Welsh names, myself. *sighs wistfully* But I'm not too worried, hubby and I have always had little difficulty agreeing on boys' names we liked -- it was always girls' names that were the problem. Nothing settled yet, but I'm sure we'll find something decent.

[identity profile] kissedbythegods.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
HA! *facepalms and feels the wrath of modly!Syn (who is greatly missed, by the way...)*

I'm sure you will, too. Promise me that you'll avoid doing the hip thing and giving your boys normal names with weird spellings though, okay? (Mothers who name their boys "Arron" and "Sheaun", I'm looking at you. watch one of the aforementioned names be one of your children's names. Just my luck!)

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Ew, no, absolutely not. My other two are named Nicholas and Simon -- pretty straightforward, no? I mean, I was peeved to find out how popular "Nicholas" has become on this side of the ocean in the last few years, but it never occurred to me to name him "Nikkolis" in retaliation. :)

[identity profile] kissedbythegods.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank god! As a future teacher, I'm horrified by this trend. I mean, how do you pronounce "Sheilaugh" anyhow? That's just asking for your child to get beat up on a daily basis. Oh, and cute names! vaguely British. I think you should stick with the theme!

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, how do you pronounce "Sheilaugh" anyhow?

I think it probably involves a handkerchief and a lot of phlegm...

Congrats once more, Rebecca. Hope everything goes fabulously well with you. And I love the multi-coloured sheep icon; it reminds me of the dyed sheep in *Blow Dry*! 8-)

*snorts happily at thread so far*

Congrats! (And I had a friend named Taryn once. She was from Australia, and for her birthday my mother painted her name on a necklace because it was so hard to find personalized things with her name on it. It made her very happy.)

*waves*

Thanks! *waves back*

[identity profile] ljrags.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yea!! Nicholas and Simon are cool names. Can't wait to see what girl's name you agree on :) For us, it was the boys' names that threw us in a tizzy!

[identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at this rate, hubby and I won't be needing to agree on a girl's name for some time to come, if ever! :)

[identity profile] sannalim.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
**has not looked at the other comments**

Let me guess--

You're having a girl this time!

[identity profile] sannalim.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, drat, I seem to have guessed wrong. *sigh*

[identity profile] rose-in-shadow.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Typical me. I saw you online first, but I was trying to get some reading done on good old Edith Wharton for class tomorrow before checking out LJ so I missed the invitation to IM you. *peeks at other posts* A girl? Woohoo! Many congrats!

[identity profile] reveilles.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL...the campaign of misinformation has begun! :)

[identity profile] rose-in-shadow.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooops! LOL. Guess I didn't read as closely as I thought Congrats on it being a boy as well. :D

[identity profile] lydaclunas.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Excitement and squee!!

*sekritly looks forward to Rebecca vs. Horst Name Battles*

[identity profile] ariadnie.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Congrats, Syn! Have you mentioned when your due date is?

[identity profile] tinderblast.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw your announcement over at the GU thread - congrats, lovey. I hope that everything for you and the little man goes swimmingly.

[identity profile] peacockharpy.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
So, this one will be... Andy? John? Roger? *ducks*

Congratulations! I'm thrilled for you. :)
