Oh, and for the record...

With regard to my previous post, I should have explained that I love and respect a great many "children's" and "young adult" books (not to mention having a large personal collection of them!) and that my resistance to the idea that Knife might be YA wasn't due to any lack of respect for that genre. It was more to do with my original ideas and expectations for the book, most of which didn't even make it onto paper anyway, so yeah, I really am a ninnyhammer that way.

So thanks ot all of you who wrote with encouragement and congratulations. I'm really thrilled about this opportunity and looking forward to seeing if and how it pans out...!

I didn't reply before, but I hope all goes well with the revision of your book! *hugs*

Wow!

Yesterday I worked my way through the rest of your fanfic (Alias, Sherlock, Dr. Who) and when I was through I said to myself, "if Rebecca doesn't try to get Knife published, she really is an idiot, because she writes as well as any published author I've ever read!"

...looking forward to seeing if and how it pans out...!
Oh, me too!

I didn't congrats before, but here - CONGRATULATIONS! Unless of course it's too soon to say so. Many a slip 'twixt cup and lip, and all that. But a Real Live Editor, that's promising.

(mutters)And it's about time too. The World has been Missing Out.

(sends encouraging waves in Rebecca's direction)

And I like YA too. I have hopes, what with the HP phenomenon, that the publishability of YA is better than it was ten years ago.

Well, if you haven't been published yet, then why not?!

You have a large readership on line as it is - so you'd have guaranteed sales when you do, for starters.

Going way way back - did you ever finish the X Files story? I remember there not being much of it, but enjoyed what there was.

On the subject of fairy books - have you read Tad Williams "War of the Flowers"? I highly recommend it. I would have changed a few things myself, but it was a great read.

RJ, I've been in the high school setting since 1992. Not much changes. What bothered them in 1992 still causes tears in the halls and lockers slammed in anger today. They still fall in and out of love and think that no one understands. Knife stands on its own as YA, whether today or ten years ago. No matter how hard it is to let go of our 'children' there comes a time to clean them up, dress them up and send them out into the world knowing we have given them every thing they need to succeed.
