What's your love language?

What's your primary love language? Gary Chapman's book The Five Languages of Love is not exactly earthshattering, but it does help to put relationships -- and differences between how people view relationships -- in a fresh perspective.

Me, I'm a "Words of Affirmation" person, followed closely by "Acts of Service". Not at all surprisingly, "Gifts" comes at the bottom of the list. I mean, I appreciate the thoughtfulness of those who give me gifts, but as far as I'm concerned they're an optional extra, and I'm completely hopeless at knowing how or when to give gifts myself. Encouraging the people I love verbally or doing practical things to show that I care about them comes much more naturally to me, and if somebody wants to really make me purr, a few words of praise and support and/or helping me out around the house will go a lot further than cards and flowers.

Off for my nap now.
