HP Fandom Meme (gacked from

Q: How did you get into Harry Potter?
I'd heard a few rumblings about the series -- it was just around the time PoA came out -- and decided to give it a try, because I like children's fantasy lit anyway. My library only had CoS in at the time, so I read that first. Didn't really think it was anything exceptional, but it was entertaining enough, so I read PS/SS too. At the time, the two books seemed awfully sameish to me, and I wondered what was supposed to be so great about the series. Still, I decided to give PoA a try. Zzzzing!!! Hooked. Bought GoF the day it came out and devoured it from cover to cover in three hours.
Q: Read the books?
About three times each.
Q: Where will you be on June 21st (release of the Fifth book)?
Haunting my mailbox and wringing my hands with impatience.
Q: Who are your favorite characters?
Snape, Lupin, Mad-Eye Moody.
Q: Who are your favorite relatively minor characters? (minor meaning they were never the main focus in any one of the books so far)
George Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Bill Weasley.
Q: Have any HP merchandise?
The Lego Duelling Club kit (thanks, Erica!) and a miniature Snape Christmas ornament (thanks, Janna!).
Q: Do you relate to any characters?
Well, I was Hermione all through public and most of high school.
Q: Do you look like any characters?
I've got Hermione's hair...
Q: Do you act like any characters?
Not that we've met so far.
Q: What is your favorite house?
Ravenclaw.
Q: Is there a house you absolutely hate?
No.
Q: Honestly, not just because of what house is your favorite, what house would you be in?
Ravenclaw.
Q: Okay, suddenly you are a student in Harry's year. Pick someone you'd die to date.
George Weasley.
Q: Who would be your secret HP crush?
Lupin.
Q: Is there a character that annoys you to no end, and should you meet them in real life, you'd want to kill them?
Rita Skeeter.
Q: Do you ever compare people to material in the Harry Potter books?
No.
Q: Do you ever privately sort people into houses when you meet them?
No.
Q: Who is your favorite founder?
They all bore me. But I guess Rowena, since she was a Ravenclaw and all.
Q: Do you really believe the statement "Not a witch or wizard in Slytherin doesn't go bad"?
No.
Q: Do you really blame the founder of the house for all of the out-of-date prejudices that Slytherins seem to have?
Not exactly, but I think he's the reason that people with those prejudices get sorted into Slytherin.
Q: Do you think that Draco Malfoy will actually redeem himself as many fandom folk try to portray him as doing?
No.
Q: Do you think that Professor Snape can actually go back to spying?
I think he never really left it.
Q: Is there any character you would give your wand arm for, just to see them die? Voldemort doesn't count.
Peter Pettigrew.
Q: Is there any character that in the event of their death you would have no qualms about holding Rowling hostage until the author writes the next book and finds some way to bring them back?
No. It's her book. But when she kills Snape, as I am almost certain she is going to do, I will cry.
Q: Do you read fan fiction?
Not nearly as much as I used to.
Q: Where do you usually haunt for fan fiction?
LJ and recs pages.
Q: What is your favorite fandom pairing?
Snape/OFC (provided it's a good OFC).
Q: Who was the first pairing you ever read?
Harry/Hermione.
Q: Has the slash bug caught you?
No.
Q: What sort of pairings are you most willing to read?
Draco/Ginny, Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, McGonagall/Riddle.
Q: Is there any pairing that when you see it, you want to beat someone over the head with a blunt object? If so, who?
Harry/Hermione. I reached my saturation point on that one a long, long time ago.
Q: Which rare pairing are you currently on a kick about? In other words, reading every fan fiction of them you can get your hands on?
None.
Q: How are you about original characters serving as the main character in a story, particularly in a romance with a canon character?
Perfectly fine with it, as long as the OC is well written and blends in decently with the regular cast.
Q: What do you think of when people use aliases like DracoMalfoysGurl?
I do the Gromit eyebrows.
Q: Do you think that there is any elitism among authors in fandom groups? If so, who?
Yes, but it's inevitable.
Q: Who is your favorite author?
I have a few. They know who they are, and I've rec'd them all over the place.
Q: What makes you love a fan fiction?
Solid characterization. Witty dialogue. A lyrical but readable style. Paying attention to canon.
Q: What makes you hate a fan fiction?
Flat characters, hokey dialogue, bad spelling and grammar. Situations, characters, and attitudes that are completely non-JKRish.
Q: How often a day to check fan fiction?
Once or twice.
